Fingerprint reader stopped working with Surface Pro 3 after anniversary update

I am using a Surface Pro 4 typepad cover on a Surface Pro 3. Ever since the Windows 10 anniversary update, the fingerprint reader does not work when I turn on the Surface, unless I detach and reattach the typepad cover. The keyboard and mouse work fine - the only problem is with the fingerprint reader.

I tried checking drivers, but the Windows says they are up to date.

    So reporting in:

    I've had about 3 days now from when I rolled back my driver to a previous version and then installed the latest update. Each time I've used the fingerprint scanner it's worked perfectly. I don't know if that update installed new keyboard drivers or not, but so far so good. 

    Hope this information helps anyone else having similar issues.

    I'm on version 1703, build 15063.632

    I rolled back my biometric driver earlier and so far so good.  For me, fingerprint sensor didn't work for years on SP3, then was fixed 6-8months ago followed by the recent breakage.

    Extremely frustrating. You spend extra money to speed up login and end up spending MORE time to login because sensor is usually dead. Really unacceptable because it's so easy to reproduce.

    So I tried the Roll Back to Previous Driver feature and this seems to have worked. I'll have to monitor it for a few days to make sure.

    I'm also having the exact same issue. The Device Manager says the fingerprint scanner is present and no issues. When you go into the Accounts > Sign In Options and try to add another fingerprint, the scanner simply doesn't scan. No errors or anything. It's as if it doesn't work even though it says its there.

    Extremely Frustrating to say the least.

    Wanted to provide some feedback.  I did have this fingerprint issue as I stated months ago.  As of the last few months the issue has resolved itself.  I didn't reinstall Windows or do any major change to my applications other than routine updates.  I can't credit the fix to anything, but my fingerprint sensor has worked for the the past month.
