Fingerprint reader stopped working with Surface Pro 3 after anniversary update

I am using a Surface Pro 4 typepad cover on a Surface Pro 3. Ever since the Windows 10 anniversary update, the fingerprint reader does not work when I turn on the Surface, unless I detach and reattach the typepad cover. The keyboard and mouse work fine - the only problem is with the fingerprint reader.

I tried checking drivers, but the Windows says they are up to date.

    Is there somewhere that you found the old driver? I can't roll back and I'm not finding any obvious place to download or select the old driver from.  Any help you have here is appreciated!

    To roll back the driver - First go to https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/download/details.aspx?id=38826 to manually download a copy of the Surface Pro 3 drivers. The driver package you want is currently called SurfacePro3_Win10_1700802_0.zip but the important things are that you want the ZIP archive of the Windows 10 drivers.

    Inside that ZIP file there is a directory \Drivers\Accessories\SurfaceFingerprintSensor. Extract the contents of this directory somewhere - your desktop will be fine. Then right-click on the .inf file inside that directory & select install. You must use the manual method, as you are installing an earlier version.

    I reported this on the windows feedback couple weeks ago. Nothing yet. I want to what they changed? Does it hurt us to run the old  Version?

     I wish we hear something from MS  since it is their hardware and software.

    Just had to roll back to the driver I installed as the system put back the newer driver. Now need to find a way for it to say with my preferred driver.

    Tried everything but the only thing work for me was to go back to the old driver. Even rebuilt my machine but that removed the old driver and could not roll back.
