Fingerprint reader stopped working with Surface Pro 3 after anniversary update

I am using a Surface Pro 4 typepad cover on a Surface Pro 3. Ever since the Windows 10 anniversary update, the fingerprint reader does not work when I turn on the Surface, unless I detach and reattach the typepad cover. The keyboard and mouse work fine - the only problem is with the fingerprint reader.

I tried checking drivers, but the Windows says they are up to date.

    Brian, I've been subscribed to this thread for a little over a year, and tried all suggestions as they have been posted.

    The issue persists, and is not fixed. SP3 256gb with SP4 fingerprint ID type cover.

    I have fully updated (auto updates) to the current release. Creators I believe. "No updates available" as of today.

    Frequently (>90%) the fingerprint reader fails to work after sleep, and I have to use a password to log in.

    Infrequently (30%) the cover itself will refuse to type (keyboard keys don't work), but the type cover is detected. As a result the On Screen Keyboard doesn't appear either when the password input text box is selected, nor does the physical keyboard work. The cover must be detached and reattached.

    I was actually able to resolve the issue.  Thanks!

    So how did you resolve it?  I'm no longer using the SP3 on which I had this issue, but my wife is, and I know she's totally given up on using the fingerprint reader due to this in the past.

    I have the same issue with the fingerprint reader not working on my SP3 unless the keyboard is removed and docked again.  Occurs every time the machine resumes from a sleep.  This thread shows that the issue has been present for almost a year, what is the resolution to the problem as I do not see one posted on this forum?  Yes, I'm up to date with updates.
