Hello.
this issue is a clear demonstration that having a good product is NOT sufficient.
the design of the kickstand is great, but it is an exposed part, and so it should be proposed as an aftermarket part.
I bought a surface pro 2 for 900 euros.
now, my kickstand is bent.
two screws off, a new kickstand (which should cost 30-40 euros), and I have my surface pro 2 back in shape, and you have a happy customer keeping faith in his product.
but no, I need to change my whole surface : 900 euros.
I don't have that money. and I refuse to pay that price for one part that can be easily changed.
so I'll keep my damaged device, and when my friends, colleagues ask why it's so, I'll have to say that I can't repair it, because you refuse to sell this as a spare part.
do you think, microsoft, that this will help you sell this product on the long term?
your call.
but just as a comparison, it's a bit as if you slightly damaged the front bumper on your car, and you have to buy a new car.
would you buy such a car again?
would you encourage people around you to buy this car, or any product from that brand?
think about it, and do what you think is right for your company and your customers.
