Broken Kickstand

The kickstand on my Surface broke off - right near the hinges on either side...  

it looks like I can just unscrew the stand from the hinges and attach a new one.   How do I go about getting a replacement kickstand?

Hi there TedShorter.

I am sorry to hear that your kickstand is broken. In this case, I believe you will need to replace the entire device rather than just the kickstand itself. My apologies for the inconvenience. Please see the information I have posted below for more details!

For a replacement:

  1. You can file a service order yourself by visiting our Online Service Center, or
  2. Chat with one of our Answer Techs at the Answer Desk.

Sorry to hear about your Surface. Did you purchase your Surface via the Microsoft Store, or from a 3rd party retailer? You can certainly contact Surface Support to check if you can get the kickstand replaced, or contact the 3rd party store to see if they can replace the kickstand.

    to all of us that love Microsoft. I have a problem with the power button not turning my surface on or off,

    you really have to use all you mighty power to turn it off or on. I contact 1-800-MICROSOFT and was told my warranty for the whole tablet is VOID because my kickstand  cracked 1/4 inches on the left side right above the hinge. kickstand still work close open like normal. i was like i didn't call to get the kickstand replace under warranty, I called cause of a hardware switch problem and the crack on the kickstand was right above the hinge where all the pressure of the tablet apply to, it wasn't a impact from something that broken the kickstand in half and may have damage the back of the surface frame which may damage the switch. dam switch still click when press you just have to use mighty power and I mean all your mighty power to the point where my finger just hard from day to day. they won't do a return for me and tell me to go to https://myservice.surface.com and file a warranty claim. will report back I have pictures too if any want to see PM me. supervise said crack=void all warranty. so I guess if my brand new car have a crack in the windshield, my whole car warranty is void. Microsoft should put another hinge in the middle to help support the 2lb tablet.
