Surface Pro 4 Screen Flickers

I have the same problem as many other Microsoft users (summarized below)

What is Microsoft's solution to resolve the Surface Pro 4 flickering screen?

ISSUE

Due to the pandemic, I now need to work remotely and use this Surface for 8 or more hours each day.  The first full day was a surprise when my screen started flickering.  I see that Microsoft knew about this issue and arranged to extend the warranty to 3 years.  Unfortunately, my Surface Pro 4 is just past the 3 years.  I feel that since my Surface was registered when I bought it that Microsoft should have notified me that my Surface was in the batch of known hardware defects.  Had I known about this issue, I would have taken care of this issue immediately.  Instead, I was left to discover this on my own over time.  Now, Microsoft support has offered to replace my Surface with a used certified Surface for an additional $599.99 with only a 90 day warranty.  I don't really want to spend an additional $599.99 but I will if I have to so I can continue to get some work done.  I have 2 issues with this, one is that Microsoft had my contact information from my registered device and never contacted me to say I had this known hardware issue and second is that after I spend $599.99 I will get a used device with only a 90 warranty.

1) What is Microsoft's resolution to this?

2) How do we implement the solution during the COVID-19 crisis?

My service pro 4's Screen vibrated. I didn't notice any heat.. It asked for a pin but wouldn't accept it and no way to enter a password. I called Microsoft assistance and we went through every possible scenario to fix the machine. It was out of warranty more than 3 years. Finally I reset the entire machine. It works a lot better now. But, occasionally I hear a slight vibration that sounds like it's coming from the SSD. Is that possible?

That makes alot of sense. I was just in the apple store the other day and talked with a guy who was getting his mac book battery replaced because it was swelling. Common issue with them I guess. I've noticed my battery life has tapered off a bit not long before I first noticed the flicker issue. I'm going to look into this fix. Thanks for the info!

Is there anyone in the UK who has launched a small claims court action against Microsoft over this issue? M SP4 has started doing this tonight, it is of course over 3 years old however, there is an expectation legally for the price paid it should last longer than that, only £45 to lodge a claim online with the court, thinking of going that route and saving my time even communicating with Microsoft, I think I can demonstrate to the court from this 1 thread alone it is indeed time wasted and Microsoft has no interest in doing the right thing, anyone done this before?

I wish someone would. For those of us in other continents sending emails to Microsoft seems to be like opera music to them. These devices aren't cheap.

Would be interesting to have it tested in a UK court, our consumer law is reasonably tight I suppose the only question is, is it reasonable to think a £1000 device should last longer than 3 years, I think it is reasonable but I am no judge lol, nothing to lose only £45 suppose I had better lodge a support request first, will report back :)
