Surface Pro 4 Screen Flickers

I guess we all are in the same situation. I really love my Surface Pro 4, I have had it for around the 3 years but like everyone, started using is frequently, during the pandemic, this last 2020. Just a couple months ago, i kind of noticed that the screen was "trembling" and then it would stop so I blame my tired eyesight. However, as I keep using it, I noticed the "flickering" is constant. I read that it was due to overheating, like some people said, we can use it for a couple hours with no problem and then, the flickering starts.

My immediate solution is "touching the screen" and at least, I can finish whatever I am reading without dizziness.

Microsoft should be responding for THEIR HARDWARE MALFUNCTION and yes, like we all know, they NEVER recalled the machines for the public to act on the issue.

I will sign any petition for them to take responsibility and solve this issue if any of you tell me where to sign.

Since around 3 years have gone by, I would at least expect that they credit us with some money to purchase another one.

Let’s all pray they do something about their product. Sad reality though is that they already earned their bucks from us and its sad that our units are out of warranty already. 😕

Surface Pro Complaint 4-15-2021

OK here's my story. I bought Surface Pro C6HOBGQ, laptop Serial # 003590471153 ,
Windows 10 Professional (10.0.19042.867)

around 3 years ago. At the time it was to be my spare PC for taking with on trips .

It wasn't used aside from turning it on to test. It seemed to work fine. At the time I lived near Lugano Switzerland. Actually, I bought two, and the other one I left behind there.

Around fall of 2019, I took my Surface Pro on what was to be a short trip to Buenos Aires Argentina . As it turned out, due to the Covid, I have been stuck here without transport back to the EU for over 1 ½ years. The Surface pro was great in some ways- it turned on fast. Worked better than my Apple PC.

But some things were wrong to start with, and are still not satisfactory:

1.MAIN PROBLEM: The screen has double vision, that is to say, when I open a window or go to a browser, the original image stays on screen making it impossible to see clearly what should be on screen . A friend said I should put it into a freezer before using,... this “cure” actually works, but only for a few minutes till there is a ghost imposed on screen.

I bought a separate monitor and that has worked, but that is not the solution I want because I need the portable feature .

1. The typing keys used often had no visible letters on them==wore off after only a very short period of use (a month or so).. Gone is ERTIOASDHLCN.
2. The thin black membrane used to cover the keyboard is peeling off in an unsightly way.

I have not looked here in Buenos Aires for a service to handle repair or replacement, and I will be going back to Switzerland as soon as transport is available, but that could be in 2022.

In general, I like the Surface Pro and would get another on with the largest touch screen possible, but I think I should get a free repair or good trade in allowance, if not here in Argentina, then when I get back to Europe. What can you do for me to keep your good customer (and blogger) happy?

what I can suggest is to reimage your Surface device using a USB recovery drive (if you haven't reset the device yet). Reimaging your Surface using a USB recovery drive is a complete form of reset and if the issue persists after the reset,

once these start flickering, simply booting to the UEFI will most likely show

the same flickering. waste of time to reimage.

Thanks for your hopeful response.

I'm not tech-savvy, so I'll attempt to re-image my Surface Pro 4 using a USB recovery with apprehension and caution. I am very happy with my Surface Pro and was very disappointed that I might have to replace it or face high cost repairs.

I am hopeful this will work.

It's not solved! 

My Surface Pro is 3 years six months old. I expected  longer life. What can we do to to win Microsoft's support to fix their problem?
