Another odd thing that leads me to believe it's a Surface Driver issue is that my phone (GS7), when plugged in will turn the screen on. It does the same when it's unplugged. Now however, when I first plug it in to the dock it doesn't turn the screen on. BUT! When I detach the clipbook (with my phone plugged in), the screen comes on briefly and it goes through the unplug animation. At no point is my phone actually charging, but the detaching of the clipbook does something that causes my phone to believe it was just unplugged.
Surface Dock USB ports not working - Dock Updater repeatedly fails
I have Surface book 13.5, and Surface Dock. USB ports on the dock are not working.
Running Surface Dock updater says I need to power cycle the dock, although I already did it several times.
Event viewer reports error code 12105, with message: "Failed to update USB hub firmware."

2018-08-03T00:14:06+00:00 Hey everyone - I had the same problem and somehow resolved it by reversing the connection from the dock to the Surface Book. Now my USB printer is back. Just flip it around and connect to the laptop that way.

2018-08-09T15:09:58+00:00 I was able to update the Surface Dock with the latest version of the Surface Dock updater, but the USB ports still do not work... I also tried to update my Windows drivers, but it was not successful. I think MS staff still has more work to do to achieve the goal.
