I have the same problem. Has anyone found a fix? I have two Surface books and a dock and the issue persists regardless of what surfacebook I use or what is connected to the dock. It doesn't sound like a hardware issue since people are having the issue with docks they get when they return their "broken" ones. This seems to be software related. Can anyone assist?
Surface Dock USB ports not working - Dock Updater repeatedly fails
I have Surface book 13.5, and Surface Dock. USB ports on the dock are not working.
Running Surface Dock updater says I need to power cycle the dock, although I already did it several times.
Event viewer reports error code 12105, with message: "Failed to update USB hub firmware."

2018-03-26T10:46:24+00:00 Thanks Barb, running the dock updater with the dock connected directly to the clipboard (no keyboard attached) made no difference at all - still the same error message and instruction to power cycle the dock.
Here's the copied data form the Surface app you requested:

Barb Bowman 80,810 Reputation points MVP Volunteer Moderator2018-03-26T09:35:31+00:00 I just got a replacement dock and it doesn't appear to work. I went to update the drivers, and when I connect my new dock it's not recognised. I can't get past this screen
I have switched the power cord from the power source for my Surface Pro (which does work) to the dock so it is not the cord or the outlet. Could the power source for my dock be at fault?
Are you in the US? Can you go to a Microsoft Store? If not, do you have a friend or co-worker with a Surface who can test and see if they can connect to your dock and vice versa?
