Surface Dock USB ports not working - Dock Updater repeatedly fails

I have Surface book 13.5, and Surface Dock. USB ports on the dock are not working.

Running Surface Dock updater says I need to power cycle the dock, although I already did it several times.

Event viewer reports error code 12105, with message: "Failed to update USB hub firmware."

For those of you still having issues, can you post the exact error message and error number?

We would like to see Microsoft Surface Dock Updater tool event log so if you could post that to OneDrive and share a link here.

Uninstall of the .MSI and delete files in C:\program files\microsoft\surface\Dock Updater should clear everything out if you want to try again to update.

    Barb,

I am not getting any errors when updating the dock, for me it just simply decides not to recognize the wireless keyboard/mouse.

I have a user that has been using a Surface Book with dock for about a month. Thursday of last week, the user reported that the keyboard/mouse (wireless logitech) stopped working. When I unplugged and plugged in the USB receiver, it would start to work. However it only worked for about a day, then it would stop working again. So far the only way to get the keyboard/mouse to work is to plug it into the Surface Book directly. I took the Surface Book home over the weekend and could not find anything wrong. I then came in this morning and ran the MS Dock Update Utility which seems to have issues (as a lot of people are reporting), when I logged out, the user reported that the keyboard/mouse stopped working on the login screen. Again, I plugged it directly into the Surface Book and it is currently working but for how long. I am temped to replace the dock since I have a spare, but after reading some of these post I am reluctant. I wish MS would read these posts and actually do something other than let us post over and over and not get any support other than to take the whole thing to a MS store, or if you do not have one, to call in. MS can you please fix this issue?

I don't get an error message, but a few weeks ago one port failed, now one of them work and my Surface Pro won't charge via the dock. The diagnostic test didn't tell me anything. I seem to get advice to do a lot of highly technical things that put my files at risk. You don't have to re-build your washing machine when it goes wrong, a technician fixes it for you. My dock is only a few months old and it looks like a total waste of money.
