Surface Pro 7 display brightness does not chage

Hi,

Anyone has the same issue as me?

When I change brightness with keyboard it does change to 30-50% only (no visible change).

When changing in side swipe, with touch it allows me to change 0%-100% (no visible change)

I tried with nigh mode off... no change

Tried windows setting ... no change

Ambient light On/Off... no change

Can anyone help?

    I found the issue starts happening every time I detach the type cover keyboard. If I leave my device without connecting the type cover, then never have an issue with the brightness control. I have a surface pro 7, and rebooting also fixes the issue temporarily. Uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers also fixes the issue temporarily

    For those wondering how to do this.

    1. press "windowskey + r" 
    2. type "devmgmt.msc" hit enter

    3)Click the arrow next to "Display Adapters" to see the drop down of drivers

    1. Right click the driver and click uninstall, then uninstall again on the popup . The only one I had was "Intel(R) Irish(R) Plus Graphics", but yours may be different I think depending on what you're using.

    This made my screen get really small but when I restarted everything was all gravy and I can finally see again.

    This worked for me as well!!! Omg, I've only had my Surface Pro 7 for a week and this was driving me insane. I was losing my mind! Hahaha. Thank you, guys!

    Go into the device manager and uninstall the display driver.

    Then reboot and wait for them to reinstall.

    I had tried updating display drivers and more. Yet only your simple solution worked !

    Thank you, this worked for me too. Though, I had a slightly different problem in that the brightness slider actually disappeared from the display settings. There was also no check box for 'change brightness automatically when lighting changes.' It was just gone. Also, the slider in the system tray was completely grayed out. Everything looks good now after uninstalling the driver and restarting.
