cameras are not working on my Surface PRO X device. [Answered]

Error code 0xA00F4271<MediaCaptureFailedEvent> (0x80004005).

I've run trough the Get Help App on my device but after following all the steps camera is still not running.

Any help?

We are aware that customers using Surface Pro X were having issues using the built-in cameras and we have resolved this issue with a driver update.   Please go to Windows Update to install the new driver named Microsoft Corporation – System Hardware Update – 5/26/2023.

    I am having exactly the same issue, I upgraded to Windows 11 two months ago, but I get the same error message, the diagnostic tool didn't fix it and updating drivers didn't either.

    Originally, the camera quality of my new Surface was good.

    Since the new patch was released to solve this problem, the quality of the camera is disastrous.

    Can you please send us an update to fix this mess?

    I am considering asking for a refund of the computer because the quality of our video calls is important and most of our clients are on Apple. See the problem ?

    My machine was showing the update as ready, pending restart... and then my machine locked up while I was playing videos. And now it no longer shows the update as available.

    It claims the update is installed, but it sure isn't installed, since my camera is still broken!

    EDIT: Apparently starting up after a crash, or shutting down and then turning the machine back on again, doesn't actually install the update even though it claims to be installed. When I went and formally used the Restart menu item in the Start menu, only then did it decide to actually install the update.
