Unable to configure my Exchange email in Surface mail program

First off, it's too bad Microsoft couldn't include Outlook with the other Office products.  In any case, I have had no problem configuring my exchange email address on my iPhone, iPad, PC laptop.  I've tried all sorts of combinations for server and domain, including the one I use for my iPhone, but not success!  Very frustrating.

Suppose my domain name was mydomain. On my iPhone I leave "domain" blank. I put in for server: webmail.mydomain.com.

I've tried that, I've tried addition both mydomain and mydomain.com to domain.  I've tried adding https:// to URL and also adding /owa at end (which I need for web log on).

On top of that after trying several combos Mail program presents me with blank screen, and I have to reset to get the screen back.

Not a happy camper!

    No. I was in error. Although the Surface doesn't support domain joining, the Mail client does work with Exchange. That was my bad.

    Ok I got mine working so I'll share what little I know in case it helps someone else.

    I emailed the self cert to my Hotmail acct and installed it from there, it didn't fix the issue but I don't know if it would have installed it automatically if I hadn't.

    so it was one of two things that got it working.

    1. I tried to configure it from home rather than when I was on our LAN. This obviously shouldn't be the issue but our network is pretty locked down so maybe something was being blocked on our WiFi network. Technical description I know sorry!
    2. I configured the sync in the people app rather than the mail app. Again shouldn't be the issue but perhaps the mail app has a bug? Anyway syncing mail, people or calendar with the device cause all 3 to sync so happy days, loving my new surface!

    I did nothing else differently to the 500 previous attempts so one of the above must have been MY solution, hope this can help someone else!

    Are you kidding me? So MICROSOFT Surface RT will not connect to MICROSOFT Exchange...

    I am very impressed with everything about the Surface except the inability to connect to Exchange Server - otherwise, Microsoft has left Apple and the others in the dust!  Windows 8 and the thin magnetic keyboards and kickstand clearly set the Surface apart from all others.

    3 points:

    1. It will be sad if I cannot get Exchange Server email on such a beautifully Engineered product - actually hard to believe since every other smart phone & table can connect.
    2. Many contributors on this forum have said they can connect
    3. My surface will not properly display or load the web-based Outlook (OWA) - gibberish at the top of the screen - using Internet Explorer.

    I am having the same issues, connecting to an exchange server.  Has Microsoft posted the minimum requirements for using exchange email on Windows RT? I.e Server must have Exchange Server 2010, EAS 14.1 etc...
