The problem is with crappy Surface laptops and Surface Books
I have 10 of them in stock, and i dont know what to do with them. I dont feel comfortable selling this junk to my clents.

What is going on with this thing?
I have had the Surface Dock for two months now. Purchased it to go with my Surface Laptop 1.
Every day.... and I mean every day, this thing disconnects itself from my Surface Laptop, my monitor goes black, my usb peripherals disconnect, and my network goes down... and then in one second everything magically reconnects.
Sometimes it only happens 5 times a day. Other days it happens like a gazillion.
Once it first started happening, I scoured the internet looking for a solution. I replaced the dock, I updated the firmware, I connected it to a different power source, I've power cycled, I've turned the cord around - etc. No matter what I do it keeps happening.
And there is no good answers on this message board that seems to fix this issue. I have read them all.
What is going on with this thing?
Right now, just so y'all know, this thing is only acting as a power source for my laptop. I am plugging the monitor directly into the Surface Laptop, I have upgraded to a bluetooth keyboard and mouse, and my Ethernet is going into the system over usb. Even with NOTHING else plugged into the Surface Dock.... nothing. Just power. It is STILL disconnecting and reconnecting intermittently. What the H?!?
This is unacceptable and you guys really need to figure out a solution for this. My boss has a Surface Book 1 and he also experiences these issues daily, as well. Since he's using dual monitors, he just puts up with them going out and turning back on five to twenty times a day. The only ones in the office with the dock that aren't experiencing these issues are the two that have Surface Pro 4's...
What can we do to fix this? The Surface Dock is currently the most expensive laptop charger I've ever purchased (since that's all it seems to be decent at).

As an IT professional, i decided to give Microsoft a try as my personal laptop. Just to see, if i can recommend Surface products to my customers.
Ive never owned a surface, and having one has forced me to read up on previous gen issues. Such as inadequate power supply.
Best part...
Microsft never does anything to rectify those problems.
I’ll be fair (at leasr ib my mind), and willing to give MS until the end of this year to resolve USB disconnects. It renders a 2700 dollar laptops usless.
After that i am back to Apple.

2020-11-15T06:43:36+00:00 Is this with all of the surface docks? I bought the Surface 2 dock so I can take it with me on deployment. It keeps disconnecting and reconnecting. I thought this was because it's hooked up to an adapter for middle eastern outlets. This really disappoints me because I'm a hardcore Microsoft fan but this is atrocious. I need a representative to contact me because I need help with sending a replacement or help overseas on this. This is an expensive item for it to be defective right out of the box. I did all of the drivers and updates on my Surface Book 2 (15in). I had a similar issue with my dock 1 thinking it was old.

Been using this set up for years no problem and the past few months experiencing EXACTLY the same issues and it is getting worse.

2020-11-02T20:41:53+00:00 I have been having the same issue as others since purchasing a Surface Pro 7 and a new dock.
It doesn't happen too often thankfully but when it does sometimes the image keeps distorting every few seconds after it comes back again and I have to fiddle about to get it working again. If it happens in Teams calls and I am sharing my screen I need to swap to the other screen.
Has been happening ever since purchasing two months ago about twice a day.
Also if go away and the device goes to sleep when I come back sometimes the screens don't come back and I need to re-plug the dock a few times before they decide to work.
