Screen flicker and ghosting

My surface pro 4 developed a horizontal line across the top of the screen, and then ghsot windows appeared of closed boxes during use, to the extent where the screen became unreadable and a restart was needed.

My device warranty expired in April, and i understand that MS doesn't do anything except replace the device if there's an issue, so my question is, without a warranty, what is there to do?  I can't believe that after a year, a device that costs as much as a top-end laptop, brakes and has to be thrown away.

Anyone had any similar issues and found solutions?

    Hi, 

    I also having the same issue and as you said, my machine is also now almost waste and need some proper solution for this. Tried to reach microsoft support, but cannot be reached. 

    I bought this Laptop in US and now using it in India for more than an year. When I approached Microsoft they are informing that they dont have any support from India. Now, dont know what to do. can any one suggest what next? and how to move forward?

    need an advice.

    Hi, 

    Me too having the same issue of Screen Flickering and The device works for about an hour or two before this starts to happen, so not sure if it's related to software more than hardware.My laptop is now out of warrenty and trying to reach microsoft hardly to solve this issue. 

    Can any one help on this URGENTLY.

    Don't worry, if your SP4 pro are suffering from flickergate, it's qualified of this replacement program because SP4 pro was out less than 3 years. My machine had the problem in the following sequence:

    1. horizontal lines on top of the screen, bottom lines under opened application disappear
    2. screen flickering after around 30 mins
    3. screen ghosting after around another 10 mins

    If the horizontal lines start to show up, don't turn off. Use a PC stress test applications like "Intel XTU" to keep your machine busy and heated further until flickering or ghosting, take photos and videos as the evidences and send them to MS support.

    Hi, I believe if your machine has ghosting issue, it would also flicker like mine. My machine started flickering first then after awhile the ghosting problem also appeared. So you can try using some PC stress test applications like "Intel XTU" to keep your machine busy and heated for about an hour. Once the problems show up, run wmic csproduct command with elevated command prompt, take photos and videos with your mobile phone and send them to MS support.

    My suggestion is that you can tell the support guy your machine has BOTHissues, just the ghosting happens more often. If they still reject your case. Tell them that according to the flickergate website, screen ghosting is one of the symptoms caused by the hardware defect so it must be included in this replacement program.

    My 2 years old surface pro4 started to have the screen ghosting problem (but not flickering) a few weeks ago. I contacted Microsoft support in HK and they said the replacement program only include the flickering issue but not for ghosting screen. This is extremely annoying as I am sure this is also a known hardware issue facing with all others in the world.

    Any suggestion how this can be resolved?
