Screen flicker and ghosting

My surface pro 4 developed a horizontal line across the top of the screen, and then ghsot windows appeared of closed boxes during use, to the extent where the screen became unreadable and a restart was needed.

My device warranty expired in April, and i understand that MS doesn't do anything except replace the device if there's an issue, so my question is, without a warranty, what is there to do?  I can't believe that after a year, a device that costs as much as a top-end laptop, brakes and has to be thrown away.

Anyone had any similar issues and found solutions?

    The problem is the HD driver in device manager...

    You can see for yourself if you go to :

    Device manager >> Display adapters >> Intel(R) HD Graphics 520

    Disable the driver and all good .. only downside is can't use HDMI to a TV or monitor

    Had no Ghosting or screen burn so far

    Come on Microsoft, get this sorted!

    I am in London.   I bought my Surface Pro 4 from eBay "refurbished".   When I spoke to man at Microsoft he did not ask for proof of purchase just the serial number.   There was no question as to where I bought the Pro.   So get on the phone and start the process.   Obviously you should wipe the machine back to factory settings after backing up and backing up again.   The turn around was about a week as the machine went to Germany and then the new one came from Germany.    

    I am very happy now that I have a stable machine and I guess credit to MS for finally admitting the problem.

    I have two questions, firstly is the UK supported in the Surface Pro 4 replacement scheme?Secondly, I purchased my Surface Pro 4, 8 months ago pre-owned and I have no way of contacting the original buyer. Am I still eligible to get a refurbished device?

    There is no international warranty on Surface. Customer must ship FROM a

    supported country and receive the replacement IN a supported country:

    Microsoft's response if you live in an unsupported country:

    "We appreciate your response. As an alternative option, if you have a friend

    and/or relative who are residing/lives in an official launch/released country,

    he or she will be able to set up the service (repair/replacement) request on

    your behalf. Then he/she can visit this link on how to get it serviced.

    Please be advised that in this scenario, sending the device to and from the

    non-launch country to friends or family in a launch country and then to the

    exchange center and back is a customer's responsibility. Microsoft will only pay

    for shipping to and from the exchange center and an address in an official

    launch country. The option to ship directly to an exchange center from a

    non-launch country is currently unavailable."

    Hi, as I've said before. Your device will be covered by the replacement program if

    1. your device was bought no more than 3 years, even the warranty already expired
    2. your device is suffering from the symptoms described in https://flickergate.com/

    So what you need to to is to call your local MS support immediately to open a case, and then they will ask you to provide evidences such as photos and videos. Before the problems appear, open command prompt and type wmic csproduct, maximize the windows to show your machine serial, machine codes, etc. Once the problem occur, take photos and videos and send them to MS support. If they confirm that is really a screen flickering problem, they will manage logistic to collect and return your device.
