I believe that the original surface had a lot of issues (being first gen and all) and many were sent back to MS to be refurbished. I also bought 2 of those; of course the packaging was new, have you never bought a first party refurb before? The very same
company moves tons of refurb units for many companies. Many other companies have been accused of this practice, including Apple with their ipads. But until you have some evidence, its just a conspiracy theory. Sorry bud.
Anyway, I did say a lot of people's problems, including one of mine. Most people don't think about shaving away a part of the wire. In fact, when I first started researching the issue, I also had trouble with intermittent video and thought my wire was going
out. Many people on many forums stated that shaving the extra part off due to the angle solved their problems. I'm just saying, that part was helpful for many people. BTW, I did a refresh on my surface 2 and still no luck. Maybe I'll head to the MS store at
some point (not expecting much) and update you guys. It seems the refresh has worked from some; oh well.
