I purchased the $39 cable and tried connectiing to a television hdmi port with no luck. When I disconnect the cable from my 37LG50 T.V. a device icon with an LG appears. When I plug the device back in, the icon disappears. I don't receive sound to the
television either way. The issue is not with the cable. I turned the surface completely off and then rebooted it. I went to the control panel and the sound icon. Again, when the television was attached to the surface the only output devices that showed up
were the headset and the surface speakers. The instant I detached the television from the tablet, a device listed as LG TV appeared. Why would it disappear when the tablet is attached to the device?
I am more than a little frustrated. My husband gifted me with the this and I was initially excited, but am less so because of this experience.
It is interesting that you are having a problem with an LG TV.
I had a problem on an LG TV while in San Diego, but when I moved hotels, and the new hotel had a sharp TV, everything worked fine. Full sound and video. This is without the microsoft adapter. So, something is definitely going on with certain TVs. I've
had this kind of problem before on an old ATI card and PC HDMI monitor and I bet it might be associated with the Tegra 3 chipset. I haven't looked that up. I'll try to see if it works in my Toshiba and a receiver to see if they work fine.
