Surface touch screen works with pen, but not my finger

I can use my pen with the touch screen, but my Surface doesn't respond when I use my finger. What is the issue?

I have already restarted twice. I don't think it's an update problem because I just downloaded updates two days ago.

Hi uteweatherman

Thank you for reaching out to us on the community forum and thank you for your question. I understand you are having finger input issues on your Pro 3 device. I'm here to help.

I'd like to know more details:

  • You said the Pro pen works fine but it doesn't respond to your fingers, correct? Are you using the finger and the pen at the same time?

When you bring Surface Pen close to the touchscreen, a point appears on the screen and the screen ignores other input such as your hand resting on the screen. You can relax and write or draw as you would with a regular pen and paper.

  • Do you have all updates? Just to be sure, you can see the detailed update information for Pro3 here.****

If you still have issues with touch, I'd suggest the following:

Please reply back and let us know.

Best Regards,

Clare

I'm also having the same problem. I noticed from the windows button on the surface, the left side isn't working when I use the touch screen. Every other area of the touchscreen responds. No problem with the pen.

Got a similar problem, where the top left section of my screen (roughly 5cm across and 10cm down) would not respond to touch (but pen works).

Followed the steps and raised a request for self-service...

Brought it in to the service center and got an exchange on the spot...

    Great!
