Hi Paul,
When you go to fold the phone back and answer it, you mentioned the microphone mutes itself. Is the only way to unmute to put the device on speaker? Is the display turning off when you bring it closer to your ear?

So making or receiving calls on the surface duo is a bit like Russian roulette sometimes (not very often) all goes well fold the phone round answers the call have a chat hang up..... But more likely is fold the phone back answer the call start talking and all you hear is hello hello I can't hear you! For some reason the microphone mutes its self, ok you can put it on speaker phone but some calls you don't want broadcast to everyone in the area.
Is there a specific way of holding it when making a call or is it just one of those lovable quirky things everyone loves!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes once it's muted you either have to put on speaker or hang up usually the person has hung up first.
I don't think the screen does turn off as a few times I have brought the phone away from my ear so I can check it and the screen has flipped round
Is the behavior the same if you answer the phone with it already folded open? Is the mute button lit up when you bring it away from your ear?
To be honest I have never answered it folded all the way so it is in single screen mode, but I have answered it folded flat and then folded into single screen and that has the same outcome.
I have never really noticed whether the mute button is lite up or not.
It seems to me that the screen is still touch sensitive and maybe I am touching something with my ear or brushing against my face it also auto rotates I don't know if that is having an effect on the call
