Surface Book 3 Nvidia Graphics card disappears after updates.

I bought the Surface book 3 a few weeks ago. It just installed some updates and now my Nvidia card has disappeared from the device manger.

It was working properly before the updates go installed so now I am suspecting it's something to do with the windows updates. My surface book hasn't received the latest 2004 windows update yet. I have already gone through the Nvidia driver experience app to manual install the graphics card driver but it says it can't detect any graphics card. I am pretty sure a brand new 3grand machine will not be equipped with a faulty graphics card, because that will be stupid. Will be contacting MS soon. Is anyone else experiencing the same problem.

Same thing with me - NVIDIA Support and nothing else helped, wasted 4 hours on reboots etc. - just read your comment, undocked and redocked the screen part and...there it is again! No idea how that works but it works!

Taking into cosideration, that I almost sent my laptop in, this is an inmportant solution. Also - if your NVIDIA or any other piece of hardware is gone, do check if it shows under "hidden devices" in the hardware manager. With me it was, it was giving the error code 45 (device detached) - this might be a clue it´s the issue with the screen attach/detach mechanics. Do it before going for software, firmware, widows updates etc.

I informed NVIDIA custommer support in my country today so they know next time to check for this.

I have tried fans pointing at the tablet portion while on a cooling pad and still have the same issue.

It does not solve the issue

Then I will retract the comment and edit out the recommendations.

In my own case, I was able to defeat the issue by keeping the tablet portion at a moderate temperature with a high powered directional fan. However, if this is falling short of reproducible, then making the post was an embarrassment and I thank you for pointing this out.

you can also go into the Device Manager (Win+X) and then right-click and Scan for Hardware Changes

unfortunately its only temporary. sometimes I have to do it a couple dozens times in an evening... or I can go days without it disappearing. I assume the SB3 thinks it needs to prep for detach, I just with they would fix it. Mine didn't do it for the first 4+ months then there was a firmware update that fixed other minor issues and caused this.

I wouldn't go that far! If it works for you then it is a solution. Others should know and try it, might be their issue as well. It is better to have us informed than not. :)
