I bought the Surface book 3 a few weeks ago. It just installed some updates and now my Nvidia card has disappeared from the device manger.
It was working properly before the updates go installed so now I am suspecting it's something to do with the windows updates. My surface book hasn't received the latest 2004 windows update yet. I have already gone through the Nvidia driver experience app to manual install the graphics card driver but it says it can't detect any graphics card. I am pretty sure a brand new 3grand machine will not be equipped with a faulty graphics card, because that will be stupid. Will be contacting MS soon. Is anyone else experiencing the same problem.

I had the exact same problem with my new Surface Book 3 with Nvidia graphics. Worked great for a few weeks and then it completely disappeared. The Surface Diagnostic Toolkit was no help at all - said everything was fine. Tried rebooting. Tried undocking the display. Nothing worked.
Then installed the latest Surface Book 3 update (SurfaceBook3_Win10_18362_20.051.9924.0) that was available to download. Rebooted. Everything was fine again.
Having similar issue, on resumption from hibernation (yes I'm old school) the Nvidia GPU is no longer accessible to apps (everything runs on the Intel integrated), even in the NVidia Control Panel app the GPU is no longer accessible. The only fix is a reboot.
Yosha - I had this happen once on my SB3 13.5". I undocked the tablet and re-docked it. That seemed to make it re-appear in the device manager. Good luck!

I'm sorry to hear about what happened to your Surface Book 3. Please try to boot your device first to its UEFI screen and check if the dGPU option is enabled. Refer to this page for the steps on How to get to the UEFI settings. Once you are on the UEFI screen, go to Devices then look for dGPU. If it is already enabled, disable it for a few seconds then back to enabled. Choose Exit after then click Restart now.
If after the restart and still the NVIDIA Graphics card does not show, please run these steps below:
1: Run Surface Diagnostic Toolkit and check Windows Update
2: Update drivers and firmware
Check what is the current OS Build of your Windows version by going to Settings > System > About.
Go to Download driver and firmware for Surface, choose Surface Laptop 2 then click Download on the next page.
Choose the .msi file that matches your current OS Build and click Next.
After downloading, run and install the .msi then Restart.
