Verify that my own solution is unable to fix the periodic detachment of display drivers before making assumptions.

I have yet to return to the problem despite cooling a unit that had featured issues on teh same day.

I think most of us here would say heat is not the main issue, it is the 'removable' tablet, or more precisely the removable keyboard and graphics card. It is simply not good at realising it has been reattached, or windows sees it but the nvidia driver does not.

This means doing the detach/reattach dance and/or restart before the card magically works again.

Frustrating in the extreme.

This is a problem that lacks a workaround, as the act of reengaging the drivers would hamper consistent performance. After one user noted that the issue was probably hardware, I remembered that there are signals indicating when and where a system is experiencing stress. One of these being either noise 'in a physical or information-rich system' or heat in a circulatory system. Concerning our case, if you touch the back of the surface book under times of heavy load, the plate will be too hot to touch. Suppress this, otherwise there will be fail-safe mechanisms that kick in and destroy functional operations in the interest of maintaining core processes.

I love the answer given. My SB3 did that the other day with my NVIDIA card and it took the whole removing the screen and reattaching it + a reboot. Then Fallout 4 would work :)
