Surface Book 3 Nvidia Graphics card disappears after updates.

So, am I the only one that believes losing connection to the GPU should not be happening? Period. I get that this is tied to the Attach/Detach sequence of the screen. Unfortunately, I am now beginning to experience issues with the keyboard as well on my SB3 (I can't type and have to reboot the machine by using an external mouse of holding down the power button). We experienced the video issue, went through Microsoft repair, got a new machine, same issue. Microsoft has washed their hands of the problem for me and, as evidenced here is these threads, many others.

My original post pointed out that this would NEVER happen on a normal laptop or desktop. I should not have to disconnect the screen, rescan in Device Manager or restart my machine/operating system just to have access to the GPU or keyboard! Some of these don't even work consistently. This is akin to the old "If Microsoft Built Cars" joke below... (I know it is old but it still applies in light of the SB[2/3] problems!)

1. Every time they repainted the lines on the road you would have to buy a new car.
2. Occasionally your car would die on the freeway for no reason, and you would just accept this, restart and drive on. (Insert laptop GPU here for car)
3. Occasionally, executing a maneuver would cause your car to stop and fail and you would have to re-install the engine.  For some strange reason, you would accept this too.
4. You could only have one person in the car at a time unless you bought “Car95” or “CarNT”.  But, then you would have to buy more seats.
5. New seats would force everyone to have the same size butt.
6. Macintosh would make a car that was powered by the sun, was reliable, five times as fast, twice as easy to drive – but would only run on 5 percent of the roads.
7. The Macintosh car owners would get expensive Microsoft upgrades to their cars, which would make their cars run much slower.
8. The oil, gas and alternator warning lights would be replaced by a single “general car default” warning light. (Can anyone tell me what the exact error is here that causes these problems?)
9. The airbag system would say “are you sure?” before going off.
10. If you were involved in a crash, you would have no idea what happened.

Why hasn't Microsoft fixed the issue? There has to be some form of Action we can take here. This is beyond ridiculous. I, for one, will not buy another piece of Microsoft hardware (gaming-remember the red ring of death on the XBox or otherwise). As my mom use to say, "Fool me once shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me."

Contact Surface customer support or Nvidia customer support - it can be something small you won´t come up with easly. Generally (so I was told) if the card is gone under the hardware manager without you having unistalled something, it ain´t looking good. Check there under "hidden devices" too (under view). It´s important if it shows there. If some strangely named card shows under the manager, that´s important too.

The Surface customer support can remotly access your laptop and run diagnositics and check BIOS etc. Do try it out before sending your laptop in. I had a different issue with the camera suddenly vanishing, they fixed it for me in no time.

The "hardware changes" button showed nothing. As I´m not a technology geek, I contacted NVIDIA custommer support. They asked me, if the card was showing under the hardware manager, which it was not. However, they didn´t tell me to look under "hidden" devices. There it was. When opened it was saying code 45, device detatched. That´s how I came to this thread. At this point I have been 4 hrs into applying solutions, chatting with NVIDIA, installing sfotware and firmware, booting and rebooting, going ito BIOS, you name it. NVIDIA said I should send my laptop in to have it repaired. So imagine my surprise when such a f*ing tiny move as detach and reattach the screen did the job. This should be included into all kinds of manuals, automatic help programms etc. I mean, I almost sent my laptop in. Imagine the costs for this on both sides.

I tried it on both too, still having problem.

Dozens of times in an evening!? That's send it back rate for me. I hope it is still under warranty.
