Plugged in, not charging and if I unplug that AC adapter, it turns off

Hello and thank you for the quick reply. It says it is installed and has correct info under the drivers version so i would say yes it unstalled but no change in battery charging. Im a new user of windows 10. Any other possible help would be so great. It is no fun using a expensive tablet that only goes 3 feet before it can not be used.

I guess we were all hoping for a bit too much.  I, and I'm sure that many of you do too, really hope that MS has dedicated an engineer or two to work on this issue.  This is a major issue and I'm certain a fix is a WHOLE lot cheaper than a class-action suit.

I mean, the SP3 worked great until some firmware killed the charging process.  Someone had mentioned that the machine can't update the FW without a working battery, but I update FW on desktops and servers all of the time, there has to be a way.

Hey, if MS is listening, I think that I would trade in my now defunct SP3 (I'm typing on it right now, it works, just as a stuck to the cord desktop) for a $500 coupon toward a new SP4.

Microsoft could then write off the cost of the recall.

I'm trying to be patient, but even my patience is thin.  I think I may set up a site and do some SEO to see if we can gather a list of names and the headers (from the title to the cycle count) from the battery report.  I'm going to write back to all of those sites that posted about the Simplo batteries the story about how MS isn't out of the woods yet.  

The absolutely deafening silence from MS on this issue is what is killing me!  I want to hear what's going on.  I want to hear their thoughts, current and next steps.  Time frames.  Leaving us in the dark is completely not cool.

Microsoft is manufacturing their own bad press here and I'm a huge Microsoft Fan!  I am all Windows, my wife and I actually BOTH own Windows Phones (yes, we are the ones - she has the Lumia, I have the HTC One M8).  We have 3 xBox's in the house and use a Windows HTPC for our whole house.  I'm not mad, I'm just really disappointed.


Excellent post, Chris.  Your thoughts echo mine exactly.  In this day and age, what I miss most from big companies is effective communication.

I have recently called Microsoft support in AU, my hopes raised by the times being limited to local business hours.  Unfortunately, the person I spoke to was clearly from an overseas call center and "I don't know of any battery issues" didn't help with credibility.

Is it really too much to ask a company like MS to promptly provide an effective response to issues like this?  Don't they understand that doing so would reap immense rewards in terms of fostering goodwill and improving brand perception?

The first major company that bucks the current trend and re-instates good, old-fashioned direct customer communication is likely to be a world-beater.   In the interim, I'll keep holding out for some sort of response addressing this issue head-on.  The token towards upgrade path would satisfy me too if a fix for my unit isn't possible.

Having an expensive tablet trying to function as a desktop just breeds frustration.

I was reading this article because i have gotten to the point where I just want to open it up and see if anything is loose. (Its impossible) The article states that Microsoft said out of warranty battery replacement is $200. Is this true?

I think that only trade press folks can get MS to address things like this. I've

not been able to get any real information other than "they are aware".
