Update to my previous post: my screen continues to degrade. There are now discolorations on the left side, right side, and top of the screen. In addition, the screen has started to fully separate from the backing on the right side. There is a large bulge where it's separating, and from the side I can look into the bulge and see the inside of the screen. Also, Microsoft never reached out about this issue, so my choice remains to pay $600 to repair this known defect or get a new computer. Terrible experience all around.
Yellow tint on Surface Book Screen
I have a really noticeable yellow tint stain on all sides of my Surface Book. I spent well over 3 grand roughly a year or two ago on this "State of the Art" machine and now this? I need this fixed - how do I get this resolved? If its past the time limits you still need to fix this issue, I have seen too many posts on this now and it seems like faulty equipment - not something we should have to have already on this machine we invested so much into!!

My screen was bulging, was yellowing from each edge and when I took mine in, they exchanged it on the spot for the latest model. As I mentioned before they told me they needed my old one to do research as this is their "Flagship" product. I would try other tactics but this should be replaced as its a known faulty design in the first gen model. I don't think you should have to pay due to poor design. My experience was far better and I truly hope you can get the same fortune as I did. Microsoft needs to make good on the poor design issue with the Gen 1.

2018-05-30T03:15:15+00:00 Ok, final update: the bulge in my screen continued to grow, so I decided I needed to get rid of it one way or another. I happened to be in another city traveling on business, and a Microsoft store was very convenient to my meetings. My experience at this store was completely different than in the original store. The Microsoft rep was EXTREMELY helpful and explained to me what was causing the bulge. He was also able to replace the computer for no charge, even though it was out of warranty. It was a very easy process, and I'm SUPER happy with the service at this store (in SF). Back to being a happy Microsoft Surface user :)

This is great news. To anyone having the same issue, please refer to my experience along with this update. The Dallas, TX store handled mine with no issues at all.

2018-07-11T12:00:20+00:00 I totally feel you frustration. Microsoft continues to profit from their PC's knowing full well they are pumping out thousands of new PC's with the same manufacturing and design flaw. The only thing Microsoft understands is a class action lawsuit , which thankfully is in the works.
I took my Surface Book 1 into my local store, showed them the issue and they upgraded me to the newest model with even better specs then my Surface Book 1. They honored it, understood the problem and came to a wonderful resolution with no hassle or issues. I would highly recommend scheduling an appointment with them and discussing any issues you have with them and see if they will also honor the sale. This is their flagship product and I feel they want to make it right and will do so by replacing it. I went in thinking I would have to buy a new screen or send it off somewhere to get fixed - blown away when they replaced it for even better (outside all warranties) and helped me set everything back up.
Microsoft did me well and I hope they do to you as well. It gives me peace of mind they were more concerned with my satisfaction then asking me to shell out more money. Hope this helps.

I contacted Microsoft over their online chat service regarding the problems with overheating / discolouration of the screen I have been experiencing with my Surface Book 1 (I don't believe that we have any Microsoft stores in the UK) and was only told that I would have to pay in excess of £400 for a new Surface Book 1 and also have to send my current one away. This is out of warranty and I totally expected to be paying a bit because of it but I'm quite disheartened by them asking me for £400 for the same product that I initially spent £1600 on not two years ago. I had read about your experience with them and also other positive experiences other people have had resolving problems with the Surface range however I have not been able to have such luck. Do you reckon there's anything else I can do about this?
