Yellow tint on Surface Book Screen

I have a really noticeable yellow tint stain on all sides of my Surface Book. I spent well over 3 grand roughly a year or two ago on this "State of the Art" machine and now this? I need this fixed - how do I get this resolved? If its past the time limits you still need to fix this issue, I have seen too many posts on this now and it seems like faulty equipment - not something we should have to have already on this machine we invested so much into!!

    Hi everybody,

I feel obligated to tell you about my experience.

First, I’ll give you some context. I’m based in Peru and bought my Surface book computer in May 2019 from Amazon in a vacation trip. After one and a half years of use the yellow tints appeared on the sides. Six months later the screen was bulged even though it broke the glass screen protector. I’ve contacted Microsoft support at USA asking for replacement, mentioning that I was going to travel to USA, and I’d wanted to be aware of the replacement process. They replied saying that my country was not supported by MS and that I should dispose my laptop. (link to the post https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/surface/forum/surfbook-surfdrivers/yellow-tint-on-surface-book-screen/816b04a3-f6a4-4be5-a4e7-09983fd57230?messageId=19e06f2c-676f-464a-be67-5e2460c1db70&page=10).

August last year, I traveled to London. The first thing I did as soon as I landed was going to a Microsoft Store, because of all the advises on this post. I was lucky that Microsoft specialist who took care of my case was really worried about my laptop that he told me I must not keep using the laptop. He mentioned that he must do what he thought was right and talk to the supervisor to get me a replacement. He claimed that my laptop was beyond the 3 years of warranty. However, as soon as I showed him the first mail answers, I got from Microsoft support, he proceeded with the replacement.

Something important to mention is that there were not a refurbished or new laptop with identical specifications than mine (surface book 1). After asking the supervisor they replace my laptop with an upgraded model, the surface book 2.

After all, I advise to go to Microsoft Stores if possible. I was lucky I found a specialist who really cares about customer.

So I have the same problem with the yellow tint on the screen of my Surface Laptop 1.

Not only does my screen have a tint, it also is a bit loose and not as stable as before.

The thing is, I come from Germany and there is no Microsoft Store here.

Reading all the comments about everyone and their problems with the Microsoft Support makes me not want to send my laptop in for service and replacement.

In fact, I am just afraid I am losing time and money for shipping, because I need my device for my studies.

I still have a few months of my warranty left; should i just do it?

Contact Microsoft by phone and don't delay.   If your screen is loose it is because the battery is bulging and it might explode

If microsoft insist on you sending you current machine back to them, it goes by courier to somewhere in Germany.  With my Surface Pro they were satisfied with photos accompanied by a print of their email alongside to prove my honesty.    I did have to keep ringing every few days to get the replacement "approved" but once approved it arrived with a few days and comes from Germany

    Go for it

I have purchased many Surface Pros for myself and my team. I then purchased a Surface Book with an extended warranty due to the price of the device.

The Surface book started to show discolouration on the left hand and right-hand side of the screen. I took the device back to the store a number of times whilst in Warranty and was advised it may not get worse. It has now got worse with more burn marks around the screen and the screen starting to cup. I have not been able to take it back to the Pitt St Mall store due to COVID and assume this device will need to go in the bin as I have been reading and appears to be a hardware design fault. Very disappointed!!
