Yellow tint on Surface Book Screen

I have a really noticeable yellow tint stain on all sides of my Surface Book. I spent well over 3 grand roughly a year or two ago on this "State of the Art" machine and now this? I need this fixed - how do I get this resolved? If its past the time limits you still need to fix this issue, I have seen too many posts on this now and it seems like faulty equipment - not something we should have to have already on this machine we invested so much into!!

First I noticed the yellow streak on the screen and contacted Microsoft.   They offered a replacement Surface Pro if I paid £568.

Then I noticed that the screen was bulging away from the case.   I sent a photo to prove this to Microsoft support.   They said not to use the machine immediately and that they would replace it free of charge as it was just less than 3 years since I got the machine.   I would point out that this machine was supplied by Microsoft when the original one had flickering screen and hot battery issue.   So it was out of warranty but less than 3 years old

I was asked to upload photos and proof of purchase.   When not a lot happened I made further phone calls but eventually they sent me another Surface Pro 4.

As this would be my 3rd, I decided to cut my losses and sell this brand new - or at least refurbished - Surface Pro 4 with all its accessories on eBay.   Had they sent me a Surface Pro 5, I would have kept it.

So moral of the story is if your machine is less than 3 years old and you have a yellow streak on the screen have a look to see if the screen is perfectly flat.   If it is bulging, do not carry on charging and contact Microsoft to get a replacement

I have had the same issue. Please - do not buy the Surface Book 2!! I am terribly disappointed with Microsoft's Customer Service.

I have called in 7 times now with this problem saying I have noticed yellow stains appearing on the sides of my Surface Book that darken and appear more prominently around the screen the longer the device runs. The first representative had me mail the device in, and they returned it without replacing it, saying there is "severe damage to the laptop, indicating abuse, misuse, dropping of the device, etc." To clarify - there are no other issues to my device other than the yellow discoloration spots on the screen. The device has no problems running whatsoever, but I was told it has "severe damage" and cannot be replaced under warranty, even thought the device itself is less than a year old and still in warranty!!

I have talked to multiple customer service reps and they have all given me different responses as to why the device was sent back. The first rep said the laptop had a cracked screen, which it clearly does not. The second rep told me I had water damage to the laptop, which it clearly does not either. The last rep I spoke with said the device was not packaged properly during shipping and suffered internal damage that cannot be visibly seen, although this damage will not effect the performance of the device. Is that even possible???

This is a known issue with the Surface Book devices and Microsoft will give any excuse to not give a replacement, even when the device is in warranty !!

Clearly, Microsoft does not want to uphold their warranty standards and replace the device. All customer service reps I have spoken to have asked for pictures of the device currently. As of now, I have given 14 pictures of my device that clearly shown zero damage: no cracked screen, no water damage, and no other issues to the device. The only issue I have is with the discoloration spots on my screen! After all this, Microsoft is still not willing to replace my device. I was told this is an out of warranty issue and that I would have to pay $600 to get the screen replaced. This device is less than a year old and is still in warranty!!

I have attached a few of the photos I have sent to Microsoft to this post, clearly showing no other damage to the device. These pictures were taken after the device was sent back to me, stating there was "severe damage to the device."

UPDATE: Thank you to everyone who helped! After being patient for a month, I was finally able to get a replacement device. After talking to a supervisor, the process went pretty smoothly and after I sent my Surface book in, I was able to get a replacement within 3 days. It took a little while, but I was able to get a replacement in the end!

Actually I was looking for a replacement for mine early on, but the non OEM ones did more than buzz, in fact almost all of them (and I tried quite a few) would result In very mild shocks when touching the case.

I didn't have an issue with the 102w Microsoft one though, and by that time l also got a surface dock too.

Hey all - random question: have any of you used a non-OEM power adapter for your Surface?  I was thinking back to my old Surface - which ended up with the yellow marks and bulging battery - and remembered that sometimes when I used a 3rd party power adapter with that computer, it would literally feel like it was buzzing (which can't be good).  I haven't used a non-OEM adapter on the replacement Surface and haven't had any issues.  Probably totally coincidence, but thought I'd bring it up.

No.  I have only used the adapter supplied by Microsoft when I bought the Surface Book.
