Start a new answer thread. Though before you do, try disabling sleep mode (so that nothing no way can get you into sleep mode) using hibernation or straight shutdown instead. Then go through the steps outlined and see what happens. For me at least doing so fixed my problem.
Surface Pro 3 LGC Battery Degradation
Split from this thread.
Split from this thread.
It was suggested that I open a new thread for this issue that I am having.
Since the Win 10 Anniversary update, I was not able to turn on my Surface Pro 3 i7 512GB with LGC LGC Battery without having it plugged in with the power supply or docking (I own a total of Three Surface Pro 3 Docks at home and 2 offices). It always said "82%, Plugged in, Not Charging", and would always instantly turn off once I pulled off the power supply tab.
I had spoke with a Technical Agent online, had my Pro 3 remote accessed, did all the proposed solutions, and even had a call from Bellevue, WA (I live in Hong Kong) before I found out that it was a software issue as stated by Microsoft.
With Auto Update turned on, I was notified that I should restart my Pro 3 this morning while I was on the docking station. I was happy that this issue was going to be resolved, but now I am disappointed that this firmware update did nothing for my Pro 3.
I'm hoping that someone out there has some suggestions.
Thank You.

2017-01-15T22:36:30+00:00 I can't believe they have the audacity to mark this question as answered. I feel like we are just being laughed at now.
I can, the level of technical expertise consists of cutting and pasting in an Indian call centre. Simply next to useless.
My Sp3 also has problems now after 134 charges (LGC Battery). Yes 134 charges and it is junk.
All the Dells I have had previously (and IBM/Lenovo) out of maybe 15 laptops NEVER had this much crap... and never had a battery issue.
Will never buy Microsoft again and have advised our procurement manager (UK Large Corporate) never to buy them... spent half an hour showing him all the threads and MS level of response.

that the firmware did not fix.

You are the voice of sanity on this thread. However many of my colleagues with SP3 have this problem even after the firmware updates.
MS seem to completely ignore the issue until threatened by class action and then bring out useless (for is their one person who had the problem fixed by the updates?) and possibly updates that make things worse!
Thanks

2017-01-16T15:48:43+00:00 Some of us believe the latest firmware might have even caused our problems. No fix or answer found.
I thank you for re-opening this thread as its length really shows the urgency in finding a real solution.
I spent yesterday evening chatting with tech support; nice people, but nothing that wasn't listed on the site was offered up. Nor did they seem to be comfortable acknowledging that this problem is widespread.
Still no clue if there is another firmware fix or optional rollback to help those of us affected.
