Surface Pro 3 LGC Battery Degradation

It was suggested that I open a new thread for this issue that I am having.

Since the Win 10 Anniversary update, I was not able to turn on my Surface Pro 3 i7 512GB with LGC LGC Battery without having it plugged in with the power supply or docking (I own a total of Three Surface Pro 3 Docks at home and 2 offices). It always said "82%, Plugged in, Not Charging", and would always instantly turn off once I pulled off the power supply tab.

I had spoke with a Technical Agent online, had my Pro 3 remote accessed, did all the proposed solutions, and even had a call from Bellevue, WA (I live in Hong Kong) before I found out that it was a software issue as stated by Microsoft.

With Auto Update turned on, I was notified that I should restart my Pro 3 this morning while I was on the docking station. I was happy that this issue was going to be resolved, but now I am disappointed that this firmware update did nothing for my Pro 3.

I'm hoping that someone out there has some suggestions.

Thank You.

I have  0% available  plugged in not charging

I downloaded  the  7/11/2016 update anyway

and have got  the same problem as I had after the august update it will not install  a system update, it goes to about 90% white  on the box in the start up screen  that shows it is installing a firmware update then stops and boots into windows without completing it

then every time I turn it on it trys and fails to do a firmware update

I dont know if this is because I  dont have 40% battery  or  its the  error code 14 on the device manager embedded controller firmware  that is stopping the updates

under my update history it has System firmware update -07/11/2016  and below it has  requires a restart to finish installing

when i click on fix issues  in the windows update in the settings a box pops up with you need to restart your PC to finish a firmware update plug in your PC and make sure the battery is fully charged

    restart then try installing again

    Hello everyone,

We are aware of a battery issue that is affecting a limited number of Surface Pro 3 users. We can confirm that the issue affecting these customers was not caused by the software updates issued on August 29th. Our team is actively looking in to the issue to determine the cause and identify a fix. We will post an update as soon as we have more information to share.

    Hello everyone,

Thanks for your patience while we identified a fix for this issue. We have now completed our testing of an update and it has passed our quality assurance process.

The update, “System Firmware Update - 11/7/2016”, is now available to install from Windows Update.

Before installing this update, ensure that your Surface Pro 3 is plugged directly in to AC power using the standard AC power adapter (do not use the Surface Docking Station), disconnect any USB devices or external monitors, and check that Windows shows a 40% charge or greater when you hover over the icon in the taskbar before you begin.

Once you install the update, please select Restart now (do not shutdown). After your Surface restarts, please manually restart it a second time to complete the process. For more information, please see our Surface Pro 3 Battery FAQ article.

Should you need any further assistance, please contact us

    Thanks again.

My local Microsoft store wrongfully diagnosed my Surface as having a hardware failure and I was told to pay $500 for a replacement.  Will there be a refund for any of these individuals?

It was purely by chance that I happened to receive email notification of this post after the firmware update downloaded and before I installed it. If I hadn't seen it, the chances are extremely high that it would have been in the dock during the update. I just hope it doesn't mess up my system.

    Hi Greg,

Same here, I had to send my surface pro when the August patch didn't work :( Will there be a refund? I had to pay $500 which is not a small amount and doesn't feel like worth to spend when it's a firmware issue.

    Thanks,

Unfortunately for me ... I was not so lucky.

My SP3 was in the dock and updated before I found out about this.

    NOW WHAT DO I DO?
