Surface Pro 3 LGC Battery Degradation

It was suggested that I open a new thread for this issue that I am having.

Since the Win 10 Anniversary update, I was not able to turn on my Surface Pro 3 i7 512GB with LGC LGC Battery without having it plugged in with the power supply or docking (I own a total of Three Surface Pro 3 Docks at home and 2 offices). It always said "82%, Plugged in, Not Charging", and would always instantly turn off once I pulled off the power supply tab.

I had spoke with a Technical Agent online, had my Pro 3 remote accessed, did all the proposed solutions, and even had a call from Bellevue, WA (I live in Hong Kong) before I found out that it was a software issue as stated by Microsoft.

With Auto Update turned on, I was notified that I should restart my Pro 3 this morning while I was on the docking station. I was happy that this issue was going to be resolved, but now I am disappointed that this firmware update did nothing for my Pro 3.

I'm hoping that someone out there has some suggestions.

Thank You.

if you check, you will see the replacement has a different serial number and is a refurbished unit. MS doesn't replace batteries..

I've personally been escalating these battery issues all along (MVP's/Community Moderators are unpaid volunteers) and I've been begging for updates to be posted. I am a SP3 owner as well with the same issues.

    update!

Well I couldn't stand it any longer.  I finally decided to send my SP3 in and have the battery replaced.  Got it back and it works great with a new simplo battery about 11 hrs of battery life with a 100% charge.  I wish I could say that this forum provided any help or even comfort at all, but it didn't.  I feel really let down by the MS team.  It seems the moderators have no power to escalate anything to MS (and no desire to really do any troubleshooting) and MS doesn't really care about the users enough to update this thread with updates.

I Hope that MS identifies there is an issue with their product trouble escalation procedures, and can correct it. The SP3 is a great product, but the battery issue could've been a much less frustrating problem if MS got involved and communicated well to the consumers.

Hope the rest of you get an answer from MS soon. good luck.

Fortunately, my unit was still under warranty with squaretrade. so my unit is still the same serial number.  Had I gone with Microsoft service, it would have cost me at least $100 just to talk with someone from MS and then $450 to get a working SP3 in trade for mine.  Which is ridiculous considering there have been many people that have attested to the fact that they did not have the issue until the MS fw update.

Barb, I would think as an SP3 owner and knowing the frustrations, you would understand that this is an issue that needs better escalation.  I appreciate the fact that you have been "escalating these battery issues all along", however it would have been nice as a user to know that this was happening, or even better that MS was giving us updates as to there progress. Even you stated "I've been begging for updates to be posted"  and they have not been doing so.

I love MS products and love the SP3. My wife and daughter in law own SP4's.  I am an MSCE and MSCA, I have worked in alpha and beta testing wither server products with manufacturers and know that there are better ways to handle issues involving consumers.  How you escalate and how its communicated make a big difference when there is an issue.  I'm just saying MS should really look at this process and make it better.  There are people out there not as dedicated to MS as I am that will jump boat for another product. I don't want that to happen.  The Surface is a good Product.

Well we lost power due to a hurricane and guess what. I couldn't use my freaking tablet. Thanks M$ for the lack of support once again. I will never by another M$ product and will do everything I can to tell everyone I know to avoid them as well.

    Barb,

Thanks for your efforts.  Any chance you can reach out to Greg and ask him to please post an update?

    Thanks again...
