It was suggested that I open a new thread for this issue that I am having.

Since the Win 10 Anniversary update, I was not able to turn on my Surface Pro 3 i7 512GB with LGC LGC Battery without having it plugged in with the power supply or docking (I own a total of Three Surface Pro 3 Docks at home and 2 offices). It always said "82%, Plugged in, Not Charging", and would always instantly turn off once I pulled off the power supply tab.

I had spoke with a Technical Agent online, had my Pro 3 remote accessed, did all the proposed solutions, and even had a call from Bellevue, WA (I live in Hong Kong) before I found out that it was a software issue as stated by Microsoft.

With Auto Update turned on, I was notified that I should restart my Pro 3 this morning while I was on the docking station. I was happy that this issue was going to be resolved, but now I am disappointed that this firmware update did nothing for my Pro 3.

I'm hoping that someone out there has some suggestions.

    Seems to me that you have the same issue i have, where the design maximum is LESS than the device maximum charge... I have now begun to stop charging when u reach around 95, 97%, to avoid over charging, and as it's apparent to me that MS simply doesn't care about us and our battery issues, I'm going to simply purchase an external power source (there are now a number of them in Amazon that you can get that you can use a surface to 12 volt connector with.... I'm a little hesitant because i don't want to screw things to more, but as MS has been clear with me that because my device is no longer in warranty, i would have to pay 450 bucks for a device that very well could have the same problem, well, i don't have much to lose imo..... I'm actually pretty surprised that MS is willing to just allow customers to go through this, when they HAVE to know the batteries they installed are faulty..... Additionally their answer that it's impossible to replace a"fixed " battery is simply wrong - it's fairly easy, actually - the "fixed" battery is only attached to the interior of the device with a little bit of glue and is easy to remove.... Like i said before, i have found one company that sells a5500 mah (roughly 39, 40, 000 mwh) battery specifically for the sp3 and they include detailed instructions... But personally, i would prefer to use an external portable power source and not open up the device - why won't MS even offer THIS fix? If not free (as it should be) but even at a discount,??

    Replacing the battery does not fix the issue. It is as if the battery is not even there. If the power adapter is removed or slightly  moved the surface shuts down immediately. This is a software issue thant may have ruined some hardware.

    you can see my concern - my battery appears to be charging to 44000 plus, which is far above design capacity, yet the average life of the battewry shows as around 5 hours ( now, I just reset this computer again recently, so that may have something to do with it)

    Carlcip,

    Be happy, you can go on battery at all.  Most of us can not even unplug the powersupply without the SP3 dying completely. (worked fine before firmware update)

    I do understand though that it is frustrating about the battery life of the SP3.  In my opinion it has never been great.
