Surface Pro 3 LGC Battery Degradation

It was suggested that I open a new thread for this issue that I am having.

Since the Win 10 Anniversary update, I was not able to turn on my Surface Pro 3 i7 512GB with LGC LGC Battery without having it plugged in with the power supply or docking (I own a total of Three Surface Pro 3 Docks at home and 2 offices). It always said "82%, Plugged in, Not Charging", and would always instantly turn off once I pulled off the power supply tab.

I had spoke with a Technical Agent online, had my Pro 3 remote accessed, did all the proposed solutions, and even had a call from Bellevue, WA (I live in Hong Kong) before I found out that it was a software issue as stated by Microsoft.

With Auto Update turned on, I was notified that I should restart my Pro 3 this morning while I was on the docking station. I was happy that this issue was going to be resolved, but now I am disappointed that this firmware update did nothing for my Pro 3.

I'm hoping that someone out there has some suggestions.

Thank You.

nothing new other than the trade press started writing articles about the LGC

    issues yesterday....

The 3 Pro is a superseded device as far as MS is concerned. They don't care about it any more.

The only thing that will make them listen is if people stop buying new models. I believe it is our duty anyway to warn potential new purchasers that their investment will only last until just after the warranty runs out. When I think of all those poor people out there buying these things completely oblivious of their fate I feel like I need to do something about it.

So what can we do to raise the profile to people in the market for a top of the range ultraportable? I don't believe that most people who buy them really read industry magazines. We're talking businessmen/women, designers, schools etc. who might read a review or two online but probably decide based on trying it for themselves at a shop. So we've got to go wider - to the national news/media outlets or maybe a social media campaign #UselessSurface !?

I am having this same issue with the SDI battery on my SP2 since the spring firmware update.

The issue does not appear to have anything to do with the battery manufacturer, but with the firmware.

    Ben,

I agree with you and I'm not willing to walk away and let Microsoft just take my money and run without a fight.  Last week I sent emails out to several of the authors that wrote various Surface Pro 3 battery articles about the previous problem alerting them to the current issue, or nudging them if they already knew.

I think that if I don't see an OFFICIAL MICROSOFT RESPONSE, even just a, "We are looking into it currently", in the next day or so, then it's probably time that we all alert our local media outlets.  A majority of people pay attention to their local news, not national.

I cannot believe that - well, maybe I can believe it - Microsoft would dump this patch on us and then walk away, like some giant "Boom!" and a mic-drop without noticing the chorus of boos from the audience.

    Got a reply from MS:

That’s definitely a different problem from what we saw with the Simplo batteries.  I’ll send it back up to the engineering team.

    '

For the people trying to track this down.

    I have the SIMPLO batteries.

BEFORE the update I had all of these problems.

Could not run without a cord.

Surface would shut off even with the cord connected if the battery was at about 2%.

(The battery ran down if I was running my i7 at full speed because it disables charging)

Removing cord would kill the surface.

Very low battery capacity (about 10 minutes).

AFTER the update, all of my problems were resolved.
