It was suggested that I open a new thread for this issue that I am having.

Since the Win 10 Anniversary update, I was not able to turn on my Surface Pro 3 i7 512GB with LGC LGC Battery without having it plugged in with the power supply or docking (I own a total of Three Surface Pro 3 Docks at home and 2 offices). It always said "82%, Plugged in, Not Charging", and would always instantly turn off once I pulled off the power supply tab.

I had spoke with a Technical Agent online, had my Pro 3 remote accessed, did all the proposed solutions, and even had a call from Bellevue, WA (I live in Hong Kong) before I found out that it was a software issue as stated by Microsoft.

With Auto Update turned on, I was notified that I should restart my Pro 3 this morning while I was on the docking station. I was happy that this issue was going to be resolved, but now I am disappointed that this firmware update did nothing for my Pro 3.

I'm hoping that someone out there has some suggestions.

    Seems to me that you have the same issue i have, where the design maximum is LESS than the device maximum charge... I have now begun to stop charging when u reach around 95, 97%, to avoid over charging, and as it's apparent to me that MS simply doesn't care about us and our battery issues, I'm going to simply purchase an external power source (there are now a number of them in Amazon that you can get that you can use a surface to 12 volt connector with.... I'm a little hesitant because i don't want to screw things to more, but as MS has been clear with me that because my device is no longer in warranty, i would have to pay 450 bucks for a device that very well could have the same problem, well, i don't have much to lose imo..... I'm actually pretty surprised that MS is willing to just allow customers to go through this, when they HAVE to know the batteries they installed are faulty..... Additionally their answer that it's impossible to replace a"fixed " battery is simply wrong - it's fairly easy, actually - the "fixed" battery is only attached to the interior of the device with a little bit of glue and is easy to remove.... Like i said before, i have found one company that sells a5500 mah (roughly 39, 40, 000 mwh) battery specifically for the sp3 and they include detailed instructions... But personally, i would prefer to use an external portable power source and not open up the device - why won't MS even offer THIS fix? If not free (as it should be) but even at a discount,??

    how many SP3's do you have deployed and how many have this problem?

    I picked up my Surface Pro 3 shortly after it was released and have to say that I've absolutely loved it with the one exception being the battery life.  I've also ALWAYS had flaky charging issues where Windows will report it as not charging until I hover over it and SOMETIMES that causes it to show as charging but usually only for a short while.

    I've also had a pretty bad experience with regards to battery life in general - it's honestly, never been very good.

    This has been a VERY frustrating problem and I find myself being constantly plugged in and trying to keep the battery above 95% and that seems to get around the issue, however, it kind-of defeats the purpose of having a tablet!

    My warranty expires in just a little over a month and I'm concerned that this issue is going to be one I'll have to live with for the remainder of my time using the device.

    I'm VERY happy to see that Microsoft has officially acknowledged this issue, but, I'm almost 100% certain that my warranty is going to expire before this issue is fixed and as such will there be a concession made?  Is there a way to some how get a credit towards a Surface Pro 4 or something given this issue appears to be a flaw that I don't think is going to actually be a fixable one without getting new devices (just a hunch).

    As my warranty expires in February next year, I can wait a while to see what develops before taking pot luck with a replacement, as frustrating as it is to be without battery power in the interim.

    I do appreciate that someone from Microsoft has acknowledged the problem exists and some work is being done on it, but I am concerned about the disparity between the reports here and the assertion that the problem is unrelated to any software update.  Some extraordinary coincidences here if that's the case!

    Anyway, I would hope and expect reasonably clear and comprehensive updates are provided promptly.  While the acknowledgement is welcomed, it is very brief and vague and cannot, in itself,  be expected to ease the mounting concerns for very long.

    More info ASAP, please.
