Surface Pro 3 LGC Battery Degradation

It was suggested that I open a new thread for this issue that I am having.

Since the Win 10 Anniversary update, I was not able to turn on my Surface Pro 3 i7 512GB with LGC LGC Battery without having it plugged in with the power supply or docking (I own a total of Three Surface Pro 3 Docks at home and 2 offices). It always said "82%, Plugged in, Not Charging", and would always instantly turn off once I pulled off the power supply tab.

I had spoke with a Technical Agent online, had my Pro 3 remote accessed, did all the proposed solutions, and even had a call from Bellevue, WA (I live in Hong Kong) before I found out that it was a software issue as stated by Microsoft.

With Auto Update turned on, I was notified that I should restart my Pro 3 this morning while I was on the docking station. I was happy that this issue was going to be resolved, but now I am disappointed that this firmware update did nothing for my Pro 3.

I'm hoping that someone out there has some suggestions.

Thank You.

I'm just curious - has anyone heard anything at all from Microsoft?? I lost patience, and found that i could no longer sign in to this community after leaving a particularly irate message - I'm assuming that it's just a coincidence, so i signed up with a different account... I just want to know if I'm totally screwed here, or what? Fair guess is that i am since i don't receive return emails either, but one never knows - last time i spoke with someone from Microsoft i was assured that this was a"known issue, " hence the reason why there is no possibility of any out of warranty fix (in assuming... Yet?)... It's confusing ...i mean, does that mean that since they "know" there is an issue, they must not be responsible for defective hardware? Confused...

If what you say is correct, and the update bricked, or should I say tethered my tablet, it is disappointing and infuriating that a fix, solution, or communication have not been made available.

I have given up on waiting and have started the process of my Amex extended warranty benefit. I only have two months to be within that time period.

I would have paid the $200 for the battery replacement like Microsoft Surface team had said in writing during the launch of the SP3. But it turns out they were liars. Or Microsoft made them liars.

Of course this goes without saying my faith in Microsoft has been completely destroyed. I just wanted to put that out there.

I will watch this board, but probably wont be posting or actively trying to find solutions for this failure anymore.

Goodbye Microsoft. Goodbye MSDN Subscription. Goodbye Azure. At least your keyboards and mice are still good.

Yes, This happens to my surface as well (Also LG battery that is not charging).

This is why I indicated that this is a FW/BIOS issue. No OS will fix this issue. You can try installing windows 8, 8 .1 ,7, XP, 3.1, DOS, or even OS X/Ubuntu, but this will not address the issue.

Whatever changes were made in the FW update to fix the Simplo battery issues within the Aug 29th update is what caused this issue.

If we were able to rollback our FW via a BIOS flash, we can confirm if this fixes the issue.

I can volunteer my device if you would like to test this out.

Yeah, the keyboard cover won't work when this happens (happened to me this morning), but the Touchscreen works, so you can exit from it instead of doing a hard reboot.
