It was suggested that I open a new thread for this issue that I am having.

Since the Win 10 Anniversary update, I was not able to turn on my Surface Pro 3 i7 512GB with LGC LGC Battery without having it plugged in with the power supply or docking (I own a total of Three Surface Pro 3 Docks at home and 2 offices). It always said "82%, Plugged in, Not Charging", and would always instantly turn off once I pulled off the power supply tab.

I had spoke with a Technical Agent online, had my Pro 3 remote accessed, did all the proposed solutions, and even had a call from Bellevue, WA (I live in Hong Kong) before I found out that it was a software issue as stated by Microsoft.

With Auto Update turned on, I was notified that I should restart my Pro 3 this morning while I was on the docking station. I was happy that this issue was going to be resolved, but now I am disappointed that this firmware update did nothing for my Pro 3.

I'm hoping that someone out there has some suggestions.

    I also have the same issue.. SP3 detects AC adapter wall charger but does not charge.

    The update, “System Firmware Update - 11/7/2016”,  would not install from /Settings/ Windows Update window.

    My battery is stuck at 7% and if I remove AC charger, would shut down after few minutes.

    PS3 works with AC adapter. My purchase date is Nov 2014 and I am out of warranty. MS store support center re-installed Win 10 and thought this might fix the issue. It did not. They did not complete the firmware update as it was taking too long and I had to leave. I tried to complete the firmware install at home and having issues with it.

    any suggestion ? Thank you.

    Mine did the same thing yesterday (battery not detected), but then showed 100% - plugged in, not charging after a restart.

    I agree though, the lack of mobility is disappointing. I'm hoping there's some sort of resolution before spring semester begins, but I'm not very optimistic.

    edit: Just kidding, now I'm at 100% with no battery detected. Go figure.

    Crap.  My SP3 now shows battery is not detected.  I have tried to reimage, disable the battery, manually apply the firmware, power reset.  Nothing.  it is now a brick without ac adapter.  Not very mobile..

    There is only 2 possibilities.  Either Microsoft is not smart enough, or they do not care.

    I personally believe they do not care.

    I walked through the local Best Buy, and totally ignore Surface Pro 4's or any other Microsoft hardware now.  I will not use in my business or recommend to my clients.

    Microsoft has made me look like a fool for the last time.
