Surface Pro 3 LGC Battery Degradation

Unfortunately there is no solution.

Microsoft broke it with a firmware update originally (if you research this you'll see they admit it in a few places), but no fix is forthcoming.  After the most recent fix they seem to have walked away, there was no response from MS post the 'fix' that didn't seem to fix it for anyone.

You can swap your computer for a refurb, but I wouldn't recommend it, you will have to pay 450 to do that and someone else in this thread reported the refurb soon started acting the same way.

My advice?  Don't buy another surface ever.

I have also had this issue regarding the surface pro 3 abruptly shutting off even with 50-60% battery. When I tried to turn it back on, it showed a low battery warning and did not turn on. I do not use a docking station or accessories with this device, just the keyboard cover only. This sudden abrupt shutoff has happened on 2 separate times recently and is repeatable. I have run the battery log command and found out this battery is manufactured by Simplo, which Microsoft acknowledges is affected. I will post the battery log below.

I have this Surface fully updated and in excellent condition. I also use the original charger.

I have the firmware updates installed regarding the supposed fixes for the issue, these firmware updates did not help.

I have tried to 2 button shutdown method described in the Microsoft forums, I have done this 2 times and it has not helped.

I am wondering what needs to be done on my end in order to get this Surface Pro 3 back to it's intended working state?

If Microsoft ever gets around to reading this (by that time I image we'll all by using iPads just out of spite), I want them to know that I mutter rude comments under my breath every time I have to unplug my tablet just to move across the room, or every time I lose all of my work because somebody tripped over my cord and unplugged it. There are so many people (both in this thread and out of it) having this problem, and I can't believe they're just ignoring us. People in this thread have talked about legal action, but I think if we want them to listen and us not get pulled in circles, we should all get more vocal with social media. They clearly don't want to address this issue due to the bad publicity after all of their other battery issues, so let's bring the bad publicity anyway and let them decide what to do from there. I intend to start posting and sharing the issue to their Facebook and twitter so everybody can see. We deserve to be heard. I loved by Surface Pro 3, but I have no plans on ever buying another Microsoft device unless they address and fix this problem that they clearly caused with their faulty firmware updates.

Unfortunately the situation is that basically no one has been able to fix this problem.  This thread consists of the victims of MS more or less.  I have (as others have as well) gotten the firmware update to work, however it doesn't actually resolve the problem or necessarily help at all.  We've been abandoned by MS since (or before) the firmware update was created and they are no longer responding to, or likely even reading this thread. 

Your options are pay 450 to get your machine swapped for a refurb (which another user reported ran into the exact same problem)

or live with it until you're ready to replace the machine.

My advice?  Do not under any circumstances buy a surface.
