Keyboard on new Surface Pro 11 does not always pair with unit upon startup

I am on my second keyboard/cover for my new Surface Pro 11 and am experiencing the following issue: On some startups -- not the majority of them -- the keyboard does not pair with the Surface Pro unit. The only solution has been to detach the keyboard from the unit and reattach it. I have cleaned the contacts (although this issue arose almost immediately out of the box after purchase), and followed a few other suggestions that I found online. One thing I have not done is reinstall the drivers. I can't imagine that they are out of date and a check of each says that they are up to date and the best drivers for the unit.) So, my question is this: if two different, new keyboards have experienced the same problem, does it sound like the issue is with the Surface unit itself? And if so, what other remedies are there before I turn it over to an expert?

Just ran across this idea on a Reddit thread:

I've found a solution that has worked for me. Go to...

Settings > Time & Language > Typing > Touch Keyboard

Show the touch keyboard and toggle to 'never'

I have tried it and will report back in a few days if it seems to work.

Hi Keith, Tried it, didn't work. :(

:) So far, the couple of logins post-settings change, have been successful. Sad to hear you have not had success. I will report back if I don't have success.

We've had zero instances of the keyboard not connecting since implementing this change. Since we never use the Surface without the keyboard, it is not an inconvenience for us.

Ive bought 2 surface pro 11's (lower end and higher end model) and both are experiencing the exact same issue on startup. Microsoft we need a firmware fix! Thank you! John

I wont be buying any more until this is fixed. Surface pro 10's are fine.

I hear you John. I wish I had chosen the 10 now. This new tech obviously has bugs. MICROSOFT ARE YOU LISTENING?

I wonder how many other's are in the same boat?
