I am reporting back to say that, after a little more than a week -- maybe 10 days -- and on our second keyboard cover, the coupling issue has evaporated. I did nothing in particular, other than go into the EUFI screen every time the keyboard wasn't recognized upon start up (pressing the START and Volume button) and getting the keyboard to be recognized. I'm not saying this will work for anyone else and I'm skeptical of the problem "just working itself out," but there you have it. I hope others on this thread have experienced similar results.
Keyboard on new Surface Pro 11 does not always pair with unit upon startup
I am on my second keyboard/cover for my new Surface Pro 11 and am experiencing the following issue: On some startups -- not the majority of them -- the keyboard does not pair with the Surface Pro unit. The only solution has been to detach the keyboard from the unit and reattach it. I have cleaned the contacts (although this issue arose almost immediately out of the box after purchase), and followed a few other suggestions that I found online. One thing I have not done is reinstall the drivers. I can't imagine that they are out of date and a check of each says that they are up to date and the best drivers for the unit.) So, my question is this: if two different, new keyboards have experienced the same problem, does it sound like the issue is with the Surface unit itself? And if so, what other remedies are there before I turn it over to an expert?

2024-09-23T17:19:33+00:00 At first unsnapping and re-attaching the kbd would solve my issue. But it no longer solves it. I am almost certain that every time I hibernate the device, the kbd is not detected and I must reboot. As for when it goes to sleep, sometimes .... but not all the time. Of course my driver is up to date.

2024-09-23T20:16:02+00:00 My wife, who is the primary user of our Surface 11, has had varied success since my last report. I've tried to detect a pattern regarding when the kbd is recognized/activated/whatever and how she signs off or turns off the Surface, but have so far been unable to determine if one particular practice is responsible.

2024-10-06T21:07:26+00:00 Me to. Same problem, same fix. Seems more acute when the tablet has been off for more than a day? I've read all the reports here. Doesn't seem a proper fix at the moment. Come on Microsoft!
