Surface Pro 4 - Screen won't wake from sleep

I received my Surface Pro 4 today and it worked fine. I put it on "sleep" for awhile, came back and turned it on. Once again it worked fine. I made an error and instead of putting it on "sleep" I  hit the power button to turn it off when I finished. Now it won't come on at all. The screen stays dark. If I push the power button I can see lights under the keyboard keys, then if I hit the power switch again they go off. But nothing happens to the screen no matter what I do. Has anyone else suffered from this?

It works fine for me after the Anniversary Update to Windows 10 Pro (Version 1607). It no longer goes into a coma.

I just traveled all week. Put my Surface Pro 4 (SP4) to sleep 10 to 20 times each day, and currently my task manager shows the up time to be 7:21:35:21 - 7 days! It is actually working the way I expected it to when I bought it!

It was such a relief to not be scared to put it to sleep during meeting breaks to save battery when working with my Pen and OneNote. For the past 7 months I've had to have it on power when in meetings so that it wouldn't go into a coma. That was always so embarrassing.

You can update to the latest version of Windows 10 by opening Settings > Update & security > Windows Update, and selecting Check for updates.

    interesting, I decided to do a Reset of Windows because of other bugs and it has come back! Sleep by closing with the touch keyboard and an hour later, no wake. Maybe I'm the only one left here but it's a year and a half now. Very frustrating.

    If there are any MS engineers still monitoring this, any suggestions?

    Make sure you've got all the updates applied after your reset - this can take several update cycles, since some of them apparently need to be applied in series.  Since shortly after the Anniversary Update, my SoD or failure to wake problems have vanished.

    Battery life still sucks compared to my SP3,but that's just because the SP4 has a smaller battery (that's why it's a bit thinner), since Microsoft believed Intel's lies that power management in Skylake would allow longer life with a smaller battery.  In the immortal words of Otter(Intel) to Flounder(Microsoft & SP4/SB buyers), "You f----d up.  You trusted us."

    ARM-based Windows machines may well be my next computers.  I'll certainly do what I can to avoid buying Intel from here on out, based on their proven inability to deliver quality products.

    IT'S BAAAAAAACK.  After several months with no Fail to Wake/Sleep of Death events, I've had three in the past two days.  Always after at least a few hours of non-use.  My SP4 was dead and completely unresponsive in the morning yesterday and today, and failed again later this morning - all three requiring YAPORRAC  (Yet Another Power-off, Reboot, Restart apps Cycle).  If I had to guess, the culprit is KB3150513, as that is the last update applied before things started failing (although oddly, for me, the failures didn't start until this past weekend, which was a few days after that update was applied on the 15th.  KB4015438 was applied yesterday, but there were two failures before that update.

    I suppose we're left just praying that the Creators Update due in a couple of weeks will once again kill off the Sleep of Death for good.  Microsoft's inability to keep this bug squashed doesn't inspire confidence, though....
