Surface Pro 4 - Screen won't wake from sleep

I received my Surface Pro 4 today and it worked fine. I put it on "sleep" for awhile, came back and turned it on. Once again it worked fine. I made an error and instead of putting it on "sleep" I  hit the power button to turn it off when I finished. Now it won't come on at all. The screen stays dark. If I push the power button I can see lights under the keyboard keys, then if I hit the power switch again they go off. But nothing happens to the screen no matter what I do. Has anyone else suffered from this?

It works fine for me after the Anniversary Update to Windows 10 Pro (Version 1607). It no longer goes into a coma.

I just traveled all week. Put my Surface Pro 4 (SP4) to sleep 10 to 20 times each day, and currently my task manager shows the up time to be 7:21:35:21 - 7 days! It is actually working the way I expected it to when I bought it!

It was such a relief to not be scared to put it to sleep during meeting breaks to save battery when working with my Pen and OneNote. For the past 7 months I've had to have it on power when in meetings so that it wouldn't go into a coma. That was always so embarrassing.

You can update to the latest version of Windows 10 by opening Settings > Update & security > Windows Update, and selecting Check for updates.

    In my case mid July's patches solved SoD troubles. I switched on the power management of USB again and I don't experience issues for about 14 dys. Today the Surfacecspecific updates appeared. I hope they will not break things as happen on Febreuary. So far so good.

    Can we please get some sort of explanation from Microsoft how come their premium PC, where they own the whole experience just like that popular fruit company, has the reliability of some generic junk kit running a pirated copy of Windows ME, 

    I actually had a windows ME computer once, loved it.... till it fried it's battery and decided not to run ever again. But I got it from a garage sale so... lol

    I don't mean to burst anyone's bubble, but y'all probably want to wait longer than 2 or 3 days before getting all excited or declaring success that this (or any other) patch has fixed the issue.  The last big patch that a bunch of people (including myself) thought had fixed the issue didn't.       

    I've had the black screen of death in a slightly different scenario: I use me SP4 as 'server' and have it docked and powered (no sleep) 24/7, but every time I got back to it in the morning the screen wouldn't wake and I had to hold the power button for like 20 secs to restart.

    Then I read this thread over 2 weeks ago, did the USB Root Hub (xHCI) save power disable and haven't had the problem since. So this solution did fix my problem and it's up and running for over 2 weeks now without any problems.

    So, if MS tech is reading this; take a good look at power savings for the USB Root Hub, because it's causing problems!

    Your (scot30) suggestion to wait for 2 weeks before responding is valid but it might be that in that timeframe there were updates for the Surface that put back the power saving option on that hub as a default again? Atleast I'm gonna check it out if the problem would ever return.

    Same here.  I have been struggling with the sleep hang problem.  My work around was to use hibernate instead disabling sleep.  With the July updates, my Surface Pro 4 would freeze after sitting for more than 15min.  After visiting this forum again, I tried the USB Root Hub save power disable.  I've reset all other power settings and now my surface works just like it did when I bought it except for the one setting noted.  Oddly, I'm not experiencing excessive power drain as I would have expected.  Hoping this means we are very close to Microsoft figuring this out and I (we all) can move on from this.
