Surface Pro 4 - Screen won't wake from sleep

I received my Surface Pro 4 today and it worked fine. I put it on "sleep" for awhile, came back and turned it on. Once again it worked fine. I made an error and instead of putting it on "sleep" I  hit the power button to turn it off when I finished. Now it won't come on at all. The screen stays dark. If I push the power button I can see lights under the keyboard keys, then if I hit the power switch again they go off. But nothing happens to the screen no matter what I do. Has anyone else suffered from this?

It works fine for me after the Anniversary Update to Windows 10 Pro (Version 1607). It no longer goes into a coma.

I just traveled all week. Put my Surface Pro 4 (SP4) to sleep 10 to 20 times each day, and currently my task manager shows the up time to be 7:21:35:21 - 7 days! It is actually working the way I expected it to when I bought it!

It was such a relief to not be scared to put it to sleep during meeting breaks to save battery when working with my Pen and OneNote. For the past 7 months I've had to have it on power when in meetings so that it wouldn't go into a coma. That was always so embarrassing.

You can update to the latest version of Windows 10 by opening Settings > Update & security > Windows Update, and selecting Check for updates.

    Well how about this for a new wake from sleep problem.  Overall I seem to wake from sleep ok now. BUT for the last couple weeks, the text below my home screen icons will appear large upon waking from sleep after several wake cycles.  It requires a restart to get back to regular text size, and then occurs again after several cycles.  This is NEW.  Never happened before.  Anyone else with this bug? Suggestions?

    Wow this thread is very long... Well I just got my surface today and I'm pretty happy with it. Although I'm confused with my particular case where I fully charged it after using it all day and I shut it down. But it seems like I hit the power button and the keyboard (yada yada) well I did the steps and it did get my PC running again. My question is I finished installing the updates that took 5 hours to download and it did this. All I'm saying is that it's weird how it turned on the PC but not the screen from shutdown...

    My SP4 had various resume from sleep issues (black screen, keyboard lights etc) and I was about to exchange under warranty (Surface support were very good) but the latest July updates seem to have resolved most of my issues. So I will probably keep it now.

    In addition to the wake problems (that come and go like the tide), I have started to experience a very similar "logoff of death" crash lately. By simply logging off, I sometimes get to that dreaded black screen (with a seemingly working keyboard and a steady IR light), forcing me to power off hard. The event log indicates a 0x14f bug check had occurred. Symptoms are exactly the same as when waking from sleep, merely triggered by a different action.

    Interestingly, the fatal logoffs were prompted by a weird issue affecting both the Netflix app and their web site: First, the Netflix app simply hung on launch and eventually terminated. Then, Edge also froze up when trying to log in from the main netflix.com page, or trying to follow any link from there. However, entering the URL of the Netflix login page manually worked, but then Edge hung again when submitting my credentials. No other apps or web pages were failing while this was going on, surprisingly. Assuming my session had got into some bad state (since Netflix wasn't down on other devices), I tried to log off, and then - boom. This definitely has the smell of a graphics driver bug.

    That was the constructive part, here is my frustrated rant:

    Can we please get some sort of explanation from Microsoft how come their premium PC, where they own the whole experience just like that popular fruit company, has the reliability of some generic junk kit running a pirated copy of Windows ME, and when they are going to fix it? The steady stream of driver updates looks like a large scale game of whack-a-mole by trial-and-error, but we need a solution, not another rearrangement of deck chairs on the Titanic. (And you know what's really sinking here.) Judging from the activity in this thread, the black screen crashes are not isolated incidents, but plague a fair number of SP4 owner, if not all of them to some extent. It's nothing short of a disaster.
