Surface Pro 4 - Screen won't wake from sleep

I received my Surface Pro 4 today and it worked fine. I put it on "sleep" for awhile, came back and turned it on. Once again it worked fine. I made an error and instead of putting it on "sleep" I  hit the power button to turn it off when I finished. Now it won't come on at all. The screen stays dark. If I push the power button I can see lights under the keyboard keys, then if I hit the power switch again they go off. But nothing happens to the screen no matter what I do. Has anyone else suffered from this?

It works fine for me after the Anniversary Update to Windows 10 Pro (Version 1607). It no longer goes into a coma.

I just traveled all week. Put my Surface Pro 4 (SP4) to sleep 10 to 20 times each day, and currently my task manager shows the up time to be 7:21:35:21 - 7 days! It is actually working the way I expected it to when I bought it!

It was such a relief to not be scared to put it to sleep during meeting breaks to save battery when working with my Pen and OneNote. For the past 7 months I've had to have it on power when in meetings so that it wouldn't go into a coma. That was always so embarrassing.

You can update to the latest version of Windows 10 by opening Settings > Update & security > Windows Update, and selecting Check for updates.

CS thanks much for sharing... I'd be interested in any results you had in your survey!

BTW I responded to this thread a while back (prior to having the official I'm a MSFT employee thingy).  I mentioned that personally have/had the issue, cared about others that also had a bad experience and that I would do what I could in terms of helping (noting its not my area of ownership).

Well I have been in conversation with some internal teams whom also care, and I have been given the green light to share that there is an upcoming tool that can resolve some installation/update issues as it relates to the sleep/hibernate behavior.  I wanted to give the persons on this thread a heads up as soon as I could.

I make no promises nor could I other than simply letting you know my inbox has been flooded with this thread and have done what I mentioned earlier would do... try my best at help you!

So in short, we're trying to figure out the logistics (where to go) to down load the tool.  I may be able to work with a few if you are willing to try it out earlier to see if it address your problems!!

Hi Chess, I'm on my third replacement unit from MS tech support online (all refurbs, the last one MS sent was one someone somewhere returned to Best Buy. Somehow MS sent it to me - it booted with errors on startup!)  In ay case I would be very keen to test any such tool that MS has that could resolve this error.  Then I might be able to trust my SP4 the way I did with my SP3.  Count me in please! Mike.

Count me in to test the tool. On my second sp4 and don't want to swap it out for a "refurbished" one.

    Thanks!
