Surface Pro 4 - Screen won't wake from sleep

I received my Surface Pro 4 today and it worked fine. I put it on "sleep" for awhile, came back and turned it on. Once again it worked fine. I made an error and instead of putting it on "sleep" I  hit the power button to turn it off when I finished. Now it won't come on at all. The screen stays dark. If I push the power button I can see lights under the keyboard keys, then if I hit the power switch again they go off. But nothing happens to the screen no matter what I do. Has anyone else suffered from this?

It works fine for me after the Anniversary Update to Windows 10 Pro (Version 1607). It no longer goes into a coma.

I just traveled all week. Put my Surface Pro 4 (SP4) to sleep 10 to 20 times each day, and currently my task manager shows the up time to be 7:21:35:21 - 7 days! It is actually working the way I expected it to when I bought it!

It was such a relief to not be scared to put it to sleep during meeting breaks to save battery when working with my Pen and OneNote. For the past 7 months I've had to have it on power when in meetings so that it wouldn't go into a coma. That was always so embarrassing.

You can update to the latest version of Windows 10 by opening Settings > Update & security > Windows Update, and selecting Check for updates.

If you have time, you should post a YouTube video showing how your replacement SP4 came with the best buy card. I've had MS employees swear up and down those POS brown box replacements are new, not refurbished. At least they're half right; they aren't refurbished at all, just shipped out bad.

I'll post a pic tomorrow.  I don't put too much stock in what the online techs say since I've been told three times that the exchange units would be fully working.  At least I didn't receive the previous one I sent back.  It was quite funny to see the best-buy warranty card in the brown box certifying that it was fully checked by a certified Microsoft technician at best buy and under best buy warranty.  My thought is this: someone returns their SP4 for unknown reason but says it works fine.   Certified Microsoft technician resets device and so believes that it is in A1 condition.  Best buy tech puts it in brown box and sends to Microsoft Service Center and MS sends best buy a new retail unit.  MS service center quickly sends POS out as replacement to customer because customer is less important than major retail chain.  Retail chain gets new units to replace in-warranty exchanges, MS direct customer doesn't.  I've been told it is 'impossible' for MS to replace a POS with a new retail one after 30 days.    Just impossible.  In the end I don't care, I just want one that wakes from sleep so I can trust it with my work.  It seems too much to ask.  I hate the constant envy I have of those who have had a > lot 1611 that report never having this issue.

Ive had about three different replacement's for my surface pro 3 with sleep issue, and one had a bent screen which you could physically see from one end to the other, and the others had slight marks on the back... So no they are not new.

I now have my second pro 4 which has the same sleep issue. I think this needs to go a reporter to name and shame Microsoft into a recall. Going public is the one thing they don't want as it means future lost sales for the bad reputation the surface brand will gain.

On a related note, the issues with the Microsoft Band 2 (which I also have) from lot 15xx have been in the tech news in the past few days.  However, MS is replacing those with new ones.  See http://www.ubergizmo.com/2016/06/microsoft-band-2-new-units-thicker-bands/ for example.  But like this SP4 issue it is not being publicly acknowledged.  It is interesting that both our SP4 with lot 15XX and the MS Band with lot 15XX have issues.  I wonder if MS changed manufacturers or something in 2016?  It would be great if tech news would pick up the sleep issue.  The only thing I've seen in the past couple days regarding this was about the firmware update that mentions the sleep issue as possibly being resolved but too early to tell, see http://www.techtimes.com/articles/166667/20160623/microsoft-surface-book-surface-pro-4-firmware-updates-bring-battery-improvements-and-sleep-mode-fix-heres-the-deal.htm
