Surface Pro 4 - Screen won't wake from sleep

I received my Surface Pro 4 today and it worked fine. I put it on "sleep" for awhile, came back and turned it on. Once again it worked fine. I made an error and instead of putting it on "sleep" I  hit the power button to turn it off when I finished. Now it won't come on at all. The screen stays dark. If I push the power button I can see lights under the keyboard keys, then if I hit the power switch again they go off. But nothing happens to the screen no matter what I do. Has anyone else suffered from this?

It works fine for me after the Anniversary Update to Windows 10 Pro (Version 1607). It no longer goes into a coma.

I just traveled all week. Put my Surface Pro 4 (SP4) to sleep 10 to 20 times each day, and currently my task manager shows the up time to be 7:21:35:21 - 7 days! It is actually working the way I expected it to when I bought it!

It was such a relief to not be scared to put it to sleep during meeting breaks to save battery when working with my Pen and OneNote. For the past 7 months I've had to have it on power when in meetings so that it wouldn't go into a coma. That was always so embarrassing.

You can update to the latest version of Windows 10 by opening Settings > Update & security > Windows Update, and selecting Check for updates.

My device has lot number 15xx.

I use my device off and on each day.

I used to get the sleep issue at least 4-5 times per day.

I haven't had any issues after installing the latest updates and firmware updates over the last 2 weeks.

I have a 1545.  Once I experienced the wake problem, I just used hibernate.  After the fix came, sleep mostly works.  Here are my residual Surface issues:

    1. I use it docked, and sometimes when undocked, it fails to wake. But not in any regular fashion.
    2. When I re-dock, I have to log in/out to avoid the icons being way too large.
    3. Yesterday, I undocked the tablet, and the camera would not work. I had to restart. Usually this doesn't happen.
    4. Sometimes, especially tablet mode, the touch screen won't work well. I can't close a program with the x, I have to go to the task bar, touch the app, and then touch close.
    5. Yesterday, it was sleeping all night, and when I checked it in the morning, it was rather warm. This does not happen regularly, but is worrisome.  I don't think it always goes to sleep.  No programs were overtly open.
    6. Sometimes, the touch is just not sensitive. Again, not regularly. I find using the pen works a lot better in tablet mode, so that could be considered a work around that isn't bad.

So, it is a quirky machine, but I hesitate to waste time going to the store, and if I get a new one, loading data etc.  I am wondering if anyone else has these quirks--in other words, finding malfunctions irregularly.

On my 1548 I had your #1 and #4 and #5.  I've had a refurb replacement for almost 24 hours now and I don't know the lot number as it is not on the plain cardboard box.  So far no wake issues with the replacement but I fully expect them to arise.  I haven't used the 'new' one long enough to yet have the issues you mentioned.

Thank you, I was keeping an eye on that other thread too. Glad you contribute to help the community.

I never experience the sleep of death AFAIK when not using the dock, BTW.

I will give a try to some or all of your proposal and let you guys know the results.

    Cheers!
