Surface Pro 4 - Screen won't wake from sleep

I received my Surface Pro 4 today and it worked fine. I put it on "sleep" for awhile, came back and turned it on. Once again it worked fine. I made an error and instead of putting it on "sleep" I  hit the power button to turn it off when I finished. Now it won't come on at all. The screen stays dark. If I push the power button I can see lights under the keyboard keys, then if I hit the power switch again they go off. But nothing happens to the screen no matter what I do. Has anyone else suffered from this?

It works fine for me after the Anniversary Update to Windows 10 Pro (Version 1607). It no longer goes into a coma.

I just traveled all week. Put my Surface Pro 4 (SP4) to sleep 10 to 20 times each day, and currently my task manager shows the up time to be 7:21:35:21 - 7 days! It is actually working the way I expected it to when I bought it!

It was such a relief to not be scared to put it to sleep during meeting breaks to save battery when working with my Pen and OneNote. For the past 7 months I've had to have it on power when in meetings so that it wouldn't go into a coma. That was always so embarrassing.

You can update to the latest version of Windows 10 by opening Settings > Update & security > Windows Update, and selecting Check for updates.

Honestly and truthfully there is code in this week's firmware.  Will it fix 100% of the issues? Prob not.  But to now at this point in time to say that this issue is 100% due to hardware, I would beg to disagree.

Susan, I think the point is that it's been 7 months. If they can't fix 100% of the issues after 7 months (or even 100% of the crippling reliability issues), Microsoft needs to take some responsibility for the lemons that they've sold and take actions to make their affected users whole again. Anything else is frankly highly unethical.

Obviously they aren't going to merely ship unit outs to all Surface pro 4 users.  I just don't believe at this point in time that this is strictly due to hardware issues.  If it was only due to hardware, this driver wouldn't be provided at all.  In my opinion there are software root causes as well.

P.S. yes I think the time it has taken is excessive.  I also think the push to upgrade from 7/8 to 10 are excessive but as  you can see my opinion doesn't count for much.

The only thing I will say  - not as an excuse mind you - is that I just feel it's good that Microsoft sees first hand that building solid equipment and getting to root causes isn't easy.  In their role as an OEM, I think they can do better.
