Surface Pro 4 - Screen won't wake from sleep

I received my Surface Pro 4 today and it worked fine. I put it on "sleep" for awhile, came back and turned it on. Once again it worked fine. I made an error and instead of putting it on "sleep" I hit the power button to turn it off when I finished. Now it won't come on at all. The screen stays dark. If I push the power button I can see lights under the keyboard keys, then if I hit the power switch again they go off. But nothing happens to the screen no matter what I do. Has anyone else suffered from this?

It works fine for me after the Anniversary Update to Windows 10 Pro (Version 1607). It no longer goes into a coma.

I just traveled all week. Put my Surface Pro 4 (SP4) to sleep 10 to 20 times each day, and currently my task manager shows the up time to be 7:21:35:21 - 7 days! It is actually working the way I expected it to when I bought it!

It was such a relief to not be scared to put it to sleep during meeting breaks to save battery when working with my Pen and OneNote. For the past 7 months I've had to have it on power when in meetings so that it wouldn't go into a coma. That was always so embarrassing.

You can update to the latest version of Windows 10 by opening Settings > Update & security > Windows Update, and selecting Check for updates.

Using the USB hub workaround, I left my SB asleep off the charger for 9.5 hours and I lost 9% battery and it woke just fine. That's a little less than 1% and hour, better than my initial estimate, and at that rate it could stay in connected sleep for days. I'm still curious though if your new one enters deep sleep and wakes the way its supposed to, and what if any hardware changes were made to the new batch.

Since Mike published this workaround I've also been testing this and I too am only seeing about a 1% battery drop per hour of sleep. As with previous other tests, I'll keep monitoring.

Remember these things are set to Hibernate after 2 hours on sleep. So to really test it, you need to change that setting. If you have this set to never, then 1% an hour is definitely acceptable

It certainly looks like you USB workaround is uncovering something interesting.

So far so good, it slept last night, and hibernated after 2 hours. The only time it's done that really in the last two months was after I applied your USB workaround the night before last. I'll run a sleep study and get back to you, I just have to remember how to do it, it's been a while since I tried that.

I don't notice any hardware changes, but I haven't looked deeply, and the guy at the store said they still don't know what the issue is (to be fair he didn't seem as technical as some of us on this forum, he looked lost at a lot of the stuff I was saying...pretty much just trusted me that the thing wouldn't wake and that I was knowledgeable of the issue and possible resolutions).
