Surface Pro 4 - Screen won't wake from sleep

I received my Surface Pro 4 today and it worked fine. I put it on "sleep" for awhile, came back and turned it on. Once again it worked fine. I made an error and instead of putting it on "sleep" I  hit the power button to turn it off when I finished. Now it won't come on at all. The screen stays dark. If I push the power button I can see lights under the keyboard keys, then if I hit the power switch again they go off. But nothing happens to the screen no matter what I do. Has anyone else suffered from this?

It works fine for me after the Anniversary Update to Windows 10 Pro (Version 1607). It no longer goes into a coma.

I just traveled all week. Put my Surface Pro 4 (SP4) to sleep 10 to 20 times each day, and currently my task manager shows the up time to be 7:21:35:21 - 7 days! It is actually working the way I expected it to when I bought it!

It was such a relief to not be scared to put it to sleep during meeting breaks to save battery when working with my Pen and OneNote. For the past 7 months I've had to have it on power when in meetings so that it wouldn't go into a coma. That was always so embarrassing.

You can update to the latest version of Windows 10 by opening Settings > Update & security > Windows Update, and selecting Check for updates.

    Are you in Canada and did you get an advanced exchange or a standard exchange?  They told me only standard exchange applies for Canada.  If standard how long did it take you to get the standard?

    I'm in Florida. It was an advance replacement. I thought they were committing to shipping it within 3 days, never mind the shipping time. Turned out it was at my door from Canada in less than two days.

    Sorry to hear people doing an advance exchange and getting a refurb to see it fail the same way - maybe the "refurb" is my old machine cleaned up and put into a new box?

    I'm wondering if we have this all wrong. I don't seem to recall if anyone has tested the sleep function on another OS, perhaps Linux ?

    The reason I ask is because as good as Win10 is for improved speed and security over previous version of Windows, It's still bug ridden from a user experience point of view which is very evident in the feedback app. One just has to look at the daft issues such as deleting files from Windows Explorer requires a user to press F5 or the refresh button more often than not (a problem that never existed in older OS's) and the numerous dodgy sync issues that are reported etc. etc.

    So that being said .... i'm wondering if pre redstone is the problem. I'd love to be able to test this but the SP4 is currently my daily driver ... so if anyone has already tested another OS ... it would be good to know.
