Surface Pro 4 - Screen won't wake from sleep

I received my Surface Pro 4 today and it worked fine. I put it on "sleep" for awhile, came back and turned it on. Once again it worked fine. I made an error and instead of putting it on "sleep" I  hit the power button to turn it off when I finished. Now it won't come on at all. The screen stays dark. If I push the power button I can see lights under the keyboard keys, then if I hit the power switch again they go off. But nothing happens to the screen no matter what I do. Has anyone else suffered from this?

It works fine for me after the Anniversary Update to Windows 10 Pro (Version 1607). It no longer goes into a coma.

I just traveled all week. Put my Surface Pro 4 (SP4) to sleep 10 to 20 times each day, and currently my task manager shows the up time to be 7:21:35:21 - 7 days! It is actually working the way I expected it to when I bought it!

It was such a relief to not be scared to put it to sleep during meeting breaks to save battery when working with my Pen and OneNote. For the past 7 months I've had to have it on power when in meetings so that it wouldn't go into a coma. That was always so embarrassing.

You can update to the latest version of Windows 10 by opening Settings > Update & security > Windows Update, and selecting Check for updates.

    I fixed my opencl.dll issue using the below which I had ON A NEWLY INSTALLED image I just reinstalled on my day one SP4. It didn't help fix the Black Screen, no wake issue, but it did fix the error and now sfc /scannow finds no errors. Interesting that I had the error on a brand in image I installed yesterday...what a mess.

    1. I used the Surface Recovery Image that I used to reinstall the OS from scratch the day before
    2. Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /Source:esd:D:\sources\install.esd\1\Windows\WinSxS\wow64_microsoft-windows-r..xwddmdriver-wow64-c_31bf3856ad364e35_10.0.10586.0_none_3dae054b56911c22\
    3. It gave an error at 100%, but seemed fix the opencl.dll issue as step 4 had no errors
    4. sfc /scannow

    And btw, I have almost nothing installed on this reinstall...just Google Chrome 32-bit. Yet 95% of the time, NoWakey

    Agreed! Great device, extremely frustrating though...not sure it's been worth the bleeding edge. I'd rather have a SP3 with the SP4 keyboard honestly.

    As I mentioned, I did the DISM trick, just for a clean sfc response.

    Before and after I did the fix, this Surface Pro3 has no sleep and wake up problems.

    That’s why I think, it’s not related.

    But I agree, that it is at least 'interesting' that almost every clean Surface tabled gives sfc scan errors,

    the more that we need the DISM trick to fix it.

    How did you get the /Source image?  I tried running DSIM hoping it would use Windows update, but it gives an error that there is no source.  Did you use the Media Creation tool to create an ISO?

    I'm having the exact same problems as you are with my brand new SP4
