Surface Pro 4 - Screen won't wake from sleep

I received my Surface Pro 4 today and it worked fine. I put it on "sleep" for awhile, came back and turned it on. Once again it worked fine. I made an error and instead of putting it on "sleep" I  hit the power button to turn it off when I finished. Now it won't come on at all. The screen stays dark. If I push the power button I can see lights under the keyboard keys, then if I hit the power switch again they go off. But nothing happens to the screen no matter what I do. Has anyone else suffered from this?

It works fine for me after the Anniversary Update to Windows 10 Pro (Version 1607). It no longer goes into a coma.

I just traveled all week. Put my Surface Pro 4 (SP4) to sleep 10 to 20 times each day, and currently my task manager shows the up time to be 7:21:35:21 - 7 days! It is actually working the way I expected it to when I bought it!

It was such a relief to not be scared to put it to sleep during meeting breaks to save battery when working with my Pen and OneNote. For the past 7 months I've had to have it on power when in meetings so that it wouldn't go into a coma. That was always so embarrassing.

You can update to the latest version of Windows 10 by opening Settings > Update & security > Windows Update, and selecting Check for updates.

    I had to download the very large image to fix this. Again, no effect on sleep for any of the machines I tried.

    Cannot get away from black screen. All updated, and just now having starting problems. 2 key restart gives the Surface logo for 3-5 seconds,  then a blue & white info screen,(all I can see is something about  firmware level & what appears to be a selection menu on the left.  Frustrating after all previous problems with docking station.

    The DISM command I run (after sfc /scannow) is below:

    Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /Source:wim:C:\windows\install.wim:1 /limitaccess

    The bolded part is the path to the install.wim file extracted from the appropriate Windows 10 system ISO which you can download from the techbench:

    The wim file is in the ISO 'sources' directory.

    Even after the April firmware update, I am still experiencing the sleep of death on my i7 Surface Book. I have read numerous posts on Reddit that people are still experiencing it.

    I have tried:

    • The sfc /scannow and /restore method (even a Surface tech remote controlled my SB)
    • Reinstalled Windows 10
    • Recovered from USB

    Nothing has worked. I have a feeling it is a hardware issue and not a firmware/OS issue. I think we need to let Microsoft know that despite their best efforts (which I know they are trying their best) that there is an issue somewhere whether it be in production, the new Intel CPUs, the firmware or OS.
